The Materials Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the raw material warehouse including (but not limited to):
- Inventory accuracy (via cycle counting, physical inventory, and SAP transactions)
- Materials movements including receiving and in-house movements (to/from production
- Management of hourly personnel assigned to the warehouse function
The Materials Supervisor is also responsible for:
·         Posting all incoming raw material, packaging, and some MRO receipts.  Reporting if COA is provided for raw materials and notifying buyer if not received.  COA’s forwarded to receptionist for verification.
·         Cycle counts and coordination and maintenance of a high level of inventory accuracy.
·         Inventory reporting, including, but not limited to, daily cycle counts and/or semi- and annual physical inventory.
·         Supply sub-contract vendors with packaging, labels, and raw materials, as needed.
·         Posting confirmation of batch cards as released to production floor, reservation requests for raw materials from outside warehouse, and clearing production reporting errors daily.  Post batch cards confirmation reversals for cancellations and reductions.
·         Has responsibility for the coordination and maintenance of cycle counts and/or physical inventory of outside warehouses, sub-contract vendors, and consignment customers.
·         Back-up responsibilities for the Senior Buyer including (but not limited to):
o    Review inventory levels through the use of business computer system (MRP reports) to ensure adequate inventories of raw materials are maintained.
o    Place purchase orders as needed and provide follow up regarding timely delivery of goods.
o    Manage and maintain proper inventory levels for packaging and production supplies.
o    Manage the toll manufacturing relationships used in the Supply Chain. Issuance of purchase orders, tracking of processes and reporting of progress.
·         Responsibilities for supervising the Shipping Dept with two hourly operators
·         Promotes the current quality system through adhering to the elements and ensuring that all group members are thoroughly familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and are trained in the appropriate procedures.
·         Promotes the MTQ philosophy throughout the organization through setting a positive example as well as mentoring the group members and positive participation in cross functional planning and problem solving activities.
·         Attend and participate in Powder Plant Programs/Committees/Training as required, such as Department Safety, Plant Safety, Behavioural Safety, Housekeeping Audit Teams, ISO, Life Saving Rules or any other safety programs.
·         Participate in the Powder Safety Journey. Adhere to the Golden Principle which is  simply to intervene to stop work if conditions or behaviour are unsafe.
·         Performs additional responsibilities as required for the success of Akzo Nobel.
Shipping/Receiving Dept:
·         Oversee and coordinate all shipping functions.
·         Controls documentation for shipments/maintains shipping records.
·         Ensures invoicing, truck bills, shipping labels are accurate.
·         Handles training, conflict resolution & payroll (myTime) for two employees.
·         Accountable for assuring on-time delivery of shipments, reporting of KPI data (OTIF, FIFO/Inv Level, DIO)
·         Ensures ISO policies/procedures are followed
·         Ensures warehouse equipment is operations/HSE&S procedures are followed
·         Responsible for shipping schedule/ensuring operators follow SOP’s and best practices.
·         Conducts Safety Meetings for Shipping
·         Ensures all shipping/receivers are current with tow motor/DOT/Hazmat training.
·         Responsible for proper documentation completion and SAP data integrity
·         Participates in Root Cause Analysis for any/all safety incidents related to shipping.
·         Oversees general housekeeping in the department/monthly safety inspections/5S
·         Maintains plant Cycle counting system.
Responsible for other duties as assigned.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

·         High School diploma required.
·         Satisfactory work record is required.
·         2-4 years of experience in Production/Inventory Control preferred
·         BA/BS in Accounting, Business Administration
·         Bachelor’s degree preferred.
·         A minimum of five (5) years in Supply Chain, Logistics, and/or Purchasing required.
·         Proficient in business computer applications (Microsoft Office).
·         SAP experience a strong plus.
·         Full understanding of products manufactured in Nashville and their flow through the manufacturing process.
·         Strong supervisory/leadership skills
·         Excellent working knowledge of SAP, MS Word, MS Excel, and Access.
·         Good organizational and planning skills
·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
·         Excellent math skills
·         Must be self-motivated and perform with little or no supervision.
·         Must have good judgment in reporting errors or unusual conditions or events to the Plant Manager.
·         Must be capable of making independent decisions and judgments based on process experience and chemical knowledge
·         Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations
·         Requires a high level of independent and proactive performance, creative problem solving, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
