AkzoNobel Performance Coatings has an outstanding opportunity for a Distribution Program Manager in our Vehicle Refinishes division. 

The preferred location for this position is AkzoNobel's Troy, MI office although we are open to considering remote employees (nationwide).

Key Objectives of the Job:
As a member of the Customer Excellence Team contributes to the distribution programs thru creating, modifying, and maintaining business development services and support tools for Distributors. They will work with the field staff to utilize tools and methods to assist with distribution customers and process improvements.

Responsibilities:
 Works closely with Regional SMU management team to ensure contract management and tenders are compeititve and profitable
 Follows and implements Commercial Excellence best practices into the regional Commercial/ Sales organization
 Creates and maintains Distributor Services programs and tools to meet internal and external customer needs while providing a differential advantage for AkzoNobel
 Involved in the creation, improvement, and maintenance of essential services for Distributors
 Works with Legal, Sales, Finance, and the Regional Business Directors to implement effective contract management and seeks appropriate approvals guided by SMU guidelines
 Lead DGTMM Regional activites as the Regional North America Lead
 Where appropriate liaises with Sales, Technical Service, Customer Service and customers to agree service conditions behind or included within contracts
 Effectively leads customer complaints versus our contract terms and conditions liaising internally to find appropriate solutions and minimizing company risk
 Creation of tools to convey value of Services offered to Distributors
 Participate in implementation and execution of sales support outputs
 Manages (a) team(s) of 7
 Develops the team(s) by providing training (on and off the job), coaching and opportunities for further growth
 Acts as an ambassador and encouraging talent processes and engagement.
 Ensures that job profiles are in place, sets objectives for team members, reviews development and provides clear, open and constructive feedback on performance combined with the appropriate actions.
 Strengthens the talent pipeline by developing talent and regularly assesses and discusses talent and internal movement. Continuously monitors and evaluates retention risk.
 Stimulates, manages and follows through on employee engagement and builds on the workforce to reflect the societies and markets in which we do business (D&I).
 Creates an open environment in the team where all people can perform at their best and stimulates the development of others and ensures an engaged team.
 Ensures reporting line is fully informed and acts in line with HSE and Compliance regulations.
 Manages and plans relevant (departmental) budget and proactively manages the costs.
 Reports on progress on a continuous base.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

• Bachelor’s degree preferred. High school diploma with equivalent work experience will be considered
• Minimum 3-5 years of management experience managing a team
• Minimum 3-5 years of distribution/distributor management experience
• Minimum 3-5 years of strong project management experience
• Prior vehicle refinishes or coatings experience is a plus
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills, driven, self-starter and work independently
• Able to travel approximately 30% of the time
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• SAP and CRM (Microsoft Dynamics) is a plus
• Must possess a valid Driver's License
