AkzoNobel’s Performance Coatings business area (BA) produces a number of leading products and brands that meet and anticipate the needs of customers all over Europe. Within Performance Coatings, our Strategic Market Unit Vehicle Refinishes (VR) is a leading innovator of product, color technology and state-of-the-art customer services. Our world leading brands include Lesonal®, Dynacoat®, Sikkens® and Wanda®.
VR’s Color Marketing department is responsible for a sophisticated range of color software
and tools that is essential to the success of VR’s business. We are currently developing a new MIXIT software offering that includes a new Automatchic Module. This allows bodyshops to precisely measure and match the existing color on any area of a vehicle.

Within this context your mission in this role is to act as the product owner for the Automatchic
module for measuring color with a spectrophotometer instrument, delivering to a global scope and a fixed time frame. This requires you to understand the complexity of digital color and translate customer wishes into business requirements, while proposing new products and product adaptations within the framework of the general directives of the Color Strategy. Moreover you ensure proper market proposition with the right communication introduction materials.

Product Manager Color Software Automatchic

The role and its responsibilities
This is a wide ranging role based at Sassenheim, the Netherlands, in which you manage all aspects of the Automatchic product and a high profile improvement project.
Thus you are responsible for the global Automatchic strategy and assortment plan for all the VR brands, aligning with the overall Performance Coatings Color Strategy and VR color leadership ambition. In doing so you ensure regional needs and teams are considered and supported throughout the project.
This requires you to develop and deliver marketing and communications materials, liaising with a wide range of stakeholders.
Further, you are responsible for market acceptance and the penetration of digital color by ensuring good Automatchic product quality, positioning, pricing, competitive position, sales strategies and actions.

At all times you aim to add clear value (competitive and profitable) to our brand propositions. You also perform long-term internal and external competitor and market analysis, SWOT analysis, identifying the consequences for product upgrading, pricing, maintenance, development and rationalization.

In addition you act as the Color Marketing representative in new project activities in the area of digital color, and as the sparring partner for Marketing, R&D, IM and the regions.

Finally, you maintain relationships with, and select products from, third party suppliers of Color Measuring equipment.

Candidate profile

- Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Marketing or Technical subject and extensive relevant experience, or a Master with a few years of experience;
- 2-5 years of wide marketing experience, with advanced Marketing education (NIMA A or similar) an advantage;
- Team player with excellent organizational skills and project management experience;
- Demonstrable affinity with IT/technical subjects;
- Strong communication skills including fluent written and spoken English.
