Main purpose:

This position requires attending to multifunctional tasks as outlined below.
• Warehouse functions: receiving, handling, dispensing, distribution and disposal of various material/packages that are received at the AKZONOBEL warehouse facility. The packages include general shipments and chemicals material.
• Dispensing of chemicals (from drums to small containers).
• Clerical work: Processing material requests made through AKZONOBEL internal material requisition system, record keeping and producing various other reports as required
• Interaction and coordinating with service vendors dealing with the shipping and receiving function
• Helping work related to disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous chemical waste
• Various other tasks required from time to time as detailed by the supervisor

Specific tasks:

Shipping function

• All the shipping functions have to happen under highly regulated environment because of the chemicals involved.
• All performances have to happen to flawless standards making exactly correct all the time
• Mistakes done cannot be corrected and become punishable violations
• Need to be done with people who are dedicated to work and willing to shoulder responsibilities associated with the job
• Needs to be trained on handling, labelling, storing , packing and other regulatory requirements
• 80% of our chemical shipments are international and rest are local. Regulations change from country to country and chemical to chemical.
• Quantities range up to 50 gallon drums


• Warehouse receive all type of things including chemicals in various sizes. Receiving, handling and putting into racks is a daily routine of work both the supervisor and helper coordinated and perform
• We have become regulatory violators for receiving chemicals we are not supposed to receive. In such situations receiving a wrong chemical has put us into difficulties of disposing them. The receiving person needs to check and verify what is receive is always that something we have ordered.
• After receiving an items warehouse staff inform the technicians who ordered the chemicals
• The receiver enters the chemical and the quantities received to CisPro inventory control system. Hence that person have to have a knowledge of using the CisPro system.

Waste management

• The site produce various types of wastes (Universal waste, chemical waste of hazardous and non-hazardous nature)
• Waste management is one of the core areas of the departmental functions
• Storage of waste, classification, affixing appropriate waste labels, manifesting, disposing according to the allowable regulated storage period and record keeping of all the manifest are highly regulated tasks that cannot be loosely performed

Chemical dispensing

• Bulk chemicals reach the site in 55 gallon drums. These are mostly highly flammable chemicals and stored in the dispensing room. These chemicals are dispensed to 1 gallon and 5 gallon containers on daily basis as demanded by the technicians.
• Lab Technicians make request for various chemicals from the dispensing room. Warehouse staff cater all the requirements.


• At present the warehouse staff transports chemicals between the two buildings. Outsourcing this task was costly according to the quotations obtained.
• The waste products generated by the RPP are stored in the old building. Warehouse staff attend to all waste disposal functions.

Education, diplomas and professional permits
High school graduate or equivalent

Must have 3-5 years of experience
Job Requirement
• Computer skills and aptitude to learn company specific software
• Good communication skills
• Physically fit to carry out lifting, stacking, pushing and material handling functions (30 pounds)

Preferred but essential
• Experience in chemical storage warehouse
• Experience in work outlined in the Job summary
• Ability to understand regulatory requirements related to shipping, handling and storage of chemicals and disposal of chemical wastes
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Ability to operate powered and non-powered material handling equipment.
• Ability to wear and use respiratory protection, as required.

Shall be ready for the following
• Undergo forklift operation training to obtain operating license
• Learn the protocol related to the job function and software programs for the job function
• Training on chemical dispensing
• DOT and other regulatory training for the job
