AkzoNobel’s business area Decorative Paints (DP) adds color to people’s lives with a full range of interior and exterior decoration and protection products for the trade and consumer markets. As authorities on color we aim to provide all our customers – from professional decorators to DIY enthusiasts – with a great color experience and a fantastic finish. Our range includes paints, lacquers and varnishes as well as products for surface preparation (pre-deco products).

Within this context, your mission in this role is to develop an E-Commerce vision, strategy and plan that will further optimize the digital distribution channels. In doing so you initiate, drive and maintain a transformation process within the organization so that E-Commerce becomes central to DP’s thinking and future.

E-Commerce & Transformation Lead

The role and its responsibilities
Working from the AkzoNobel Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, your core objective is to
develop a sophisticated and effective  E-Commerce strategy for DP, in alignment with company objectives and strategic priorities, in order to drive revenue and increase market share. Central to this is the development of integrated marketing strategies that merge digital, social, and content to deliver a high-impact omni-channel customer experience.

This requires you to work closely with the category teams, local markets, regional teams, IT and the Integrated Supply Chain as you build E-Commerce competency across the organization in order to translate category strategies into E-Commerce concepts. You also maintain close relationships with the development, CRM, Analytics, Mobile, UX/UI teams to ensure that the E-Commerce requirements are clearly understood and translated accordingly.

Further, you lead E-Commerce projects and move projects through the development process right through to after go-live. You also oversee the monitoring and reporting analytics of the digital distribution channels.

At all times you ensure that DP plays a leading role in shaping the online paint market across all key markets, developing and executing repeatable models for E-Commerce implementation.

Needless to say, you stay ahead of market trends, consumer behavior, and the competitive landscape. In particular you monitor emerging technologies to evaluate their potential for application to the decorative paints market, matching candidate technologies to customer needs and insights.

Candidate profile
To apply for this position you must possess the following attributes:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience and 5+ years experience in a senior digital marketing role;

- Experience with both B2B and B2C E-Commerce, a great network within the industry, and a passion for innovative digital technology and industry trends;

- Experience with etail development via 3rd party retail sites, pure players and marketplaces;

- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills including a proven ability to manage multiple product teams - work prioritization, planning, and task delegation;

- Ability to build an E-commerce business strategy within an already established large organization;

- Experience with agile way of working as a Product Owner;

- Knowledge and experience of the decorative paints market is an advantage;

- Proven expertise in establishing online/multi-channel sales operations;

- Strong communication skills including fluent written and spoken English.
