Responsibility

Under direct and indirect supervision of the Accelerated Lab Lead, the Technical Lab Assistant position is responsible for the accelerated weather and physical testing of powder coatings. Position must constructively interact with all other U.S. and worldwide personnel to facilitate a well-run organization. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Conformance to ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/IEC 17025 guidelines.
• Receive and Track Test Submissions
• Maintains submission records and files.
• Label test panels
• Record data
• Return completed report and parts to submitter
• Perform routine and specification testing of powder coatings.
• Accurately follow test procedures
• Perform tests consistently and repeatable
• Record specific methods used on test report
• Perform only those tests for which the technician has been properly trained
• Monitor/Maintain Test Equipment
• Make sure test conditions meet specifications
• Perform scheduled periodic maintenance
• Maintains daily equipment readings.
• Reviews any out of spec reading with Accelerated Lab Lead or Automotive Coordinator.
• Recognizes and reviews with Accelerated Lab Lead any potential problems with test equipment and/or handling/test results of submissions.
• Maintain confidentiality of Test Lab records and files.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

• High school diploma required: Completion of college level chemistry coursework preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and/or previous experience working in an industrial lab environment a plus.
• Previous experience working in a hands on- fast pasted environment.
• Must be a self-starter who is capable of working independently or in a team as directed by the needs of the customer.
• Previous work experience in a laboratory environment and/or have an understanding of powder coatings chemistries, powder application and powder manufacturing and accelerated weathering testing preferred.
