One of our Specialty Chemical Business Units, Pulp and Performance Chemicals has an outstanding opportunity for a passionate, experienced professional to assume the role of Senior Process Technology Engineer – Chlorate.  
The preferred location for this position is Columbus, MS. The incumbent will travel approximately 40% internationally to other chlorate manufacturing sites.
More than half of AkzoNobel Pulp and Performance Chemicals’ sales derive from chemicals and customized solutions for bleaching pulp. We’re the largest producer of sodium chlorate worldwide, and one of the largest suppliers of hydrogen peroxide. Our bleaching chemicals and concepts are marketed under the Eka brand, generally associated with global presence, sustainable products and solutions, reliable business partnerships, and assured quality throughout the value chain.
This position will ensure that the most cost effective technology is employed in order to create competitive advantages and customer value; develop and optimize the chlorate process; ensure efficient knowledge transfer between the different chlorate plants and Technology and Process RD&I.
This position will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop and implement new methods and working tools in the business.
- Be a resource for all Chlorate plants regarding process development and optimization.
- Ensure the specialist competence and follow the development within the Chlorate technology area.
- Be contact person for Chlorate plants. A contact person has the responsibility to actively follow up and support the business and ensure that the most cost efficient and technology is used.
- Make long-term project proposals to develop the Chlorate process so that the most cost efficient and competitive technology is used.
- Lead projects decided by the Bleaching Chemicals Technology Manager.
- Participate in realization of projects regarding new processes and products.
- Participate in projects within the Bleaching Chemicals technology organisation.
- Ensure that knowledge within the Chlorate technology area is transferred within the organization.
- Lead global benchmarking activities.
- Identify and solve complicated chemical and technical related problems.
- Follow the development within the responsibility area and suggest relevant education
- Leveraging best practices and support productivity improvement projects
- Standardization of design and operating parameters.
 The position reports to the Bleaching Chemicals Technology Manager and is an individual contributor.
Physical Requirements: This job requires capability to work in a manufacturing site setting with hazardous chemicals. The incumbent must be able to climb multiple levels, work in/outdoors, various noise environments, and lift up to 50 lbs.  The work environment requires walking, inspecting, and bending in an industrial setting.

- 7-10 years of experience in research, process development and production within chemical industry                                                                                
- Profound knowledge and several years of experience within Chlorate technology
- Experience in leading projects
- Fluent in English
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
