AkzoNobel Inc.–has an outstanding opportunity for a Spend Area Main Buyer of SOC&S (Site Operational Consumables and Services). The Spend Area Main Buyer will drive and implement procurement synergies between the Business Units, Business Areas and Integrated Supply Chain - in NAM in the area of SOC&S (Site Operational Consumables and Services). This individual will integrate the business and supply chain requirements in Sourcing Strategies. This should result in identification and consistent use of preferred suppliers in the businesses, high quality frame contracts and flawless SRM usage. Install continuous improvement in QDCIS (quality, delivery, cost, innovation and sustainability), which means secured, uninterrupted and timely supply at optimum costs within specifications: proactively drives cost and process improvements (TCO, e-sourcing and SRM) and innovation while managing the risk.

This position can be remote but preferred location at Houston, TX or Chicago, IL sites.

Specific Tasks:
- Contribute to the global strategies

- Strategy Development using Strategic Sourcing Methodology for regional categories

- Supplier and Contract Management for regional suppliers

- Deployment of processes, tools and templates

- Deliver x-Business Unit Sourcing activities in the area of SOC&S Services

- Support Business Unit on request in more complex SOC&S topics and projects

- Support category knowledge of Services in Business Unit

- Business Unit alignment

- Stakeholders engagement to execute NAM strategy that would align with the business needs and sites requirements

- Negotiate national contract that would provide services cross sites in US region

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- Bachelor degree, Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience from procurement ownership
- Experience working on medium to large size site operational consumables and services contacts
- Experience working in an international environment, preferred
- Self-motivated, who can operate in a broad spend category
- Ability to work under minimal supervision with broad direction
- Ability to drive and steer multiple projects in a larger region
- Ability to manage conflicting business interests
- Ability to Source, and develop RFI/RFP, and bid analysis
- Strong analytical skills to execute spend analysis and propose improvement opportunities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Team builder who can work together with cross functional teams and different levels of stakeholders (both internal and external)
- Initiate and influence ideas, concepts and programs to suppliers and within relevant AN organizations,
- Be able to manage conflicting business interests, understand and be able to establish common ground in organizational (including cross BU) barriers
- Adaptive to cultural differences
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in project management
- Experience in Strategic Sourcing Methodology is a plus
- Strong Negotiation Skill
- Ability to travel upwards of 10% of the time
