A fascinating and wide-ranging research role within a leading organization

AkzoNobel Research, Development & Innovation (RD&I) at Deventer in the Netherlands comprises both business unit (BU) teams and Strategic Research Groups that work together with our businesses to create business value. We are a knowledge center with more than 200 highly qualified R&D employees.
Within this powerful and well resourced capability, the R&D team Powder Technology (PT) of Industrial Chemicals Salt works to meet current and future customer needs and to optimize the current manufacturing processes for solid materials.

PT has a dedicated laboratory in which smaller scale processing equipment and diverse physical and analytical facilities are present, as well as larger scale process equipment that can be used in pilot plant facilities. Although the group is embedded in Industrial Chemicals Salt, it has a charter to supply Powder Technology expertise for the whole of AkzoNobel.

Could you play a vital role in this essential process as a practical, organized and results-driven research professional? Do you have an affinity or experience with Powder Technology and, ideally, some years of experience in process technology or plant support? Can you display a strong customer focus in an environment where customer acquisition is a vital part of your job? Above all, can you make a real difference within our dynamic, multinational and multicultural business?
If you offer all this and more we invite you to apply for the role of

Researcher Powder Technology

The role and its responsibilities
AkzoNobel’s Salt business comprises two world leading areas: Industrial Salt (salt for chemical transformation and de-icing) and Salt Specialties (salt for pharmaceutical industry, edible applications, water treatment, agricultural, industrial and other applications). It is a key part of our business unit Industrial Chemicals, part of the global Specialty Chemicals businesses.

You mission in this fascinating and wide-ranging role is to perform all-round technical, research, and customer responsibilities as they relate to PT for Salt and products of other customers. In doing so you become an expert for several PT competence areas, often acting as project leader. You also work hard to maintain and develop contacts within the business units, and you act as a focal point for one or more of our customers.

Activities are focused on research, both for developing new and existing products and processes and on strengthening available PT knowledge and expertise.

The activity scope ranges from product development, solid material processing and storage to transport. Troubleshooting and the optimization of solid material processing plants for our customers is the other main activity.

This requires you to develop and retain relevant experimental and theoretical knowledge of critical product properties, and to act as a gatekeeper for this knowledge. You also support and enhance other AkzoNobel research teams by supplying and developing your PT expertise, keeping other researchers informed of the latest developments and providing access to specialized areas of PT expertise.
Finally, you complement site technologists with PT expertise and/or act as site technologist.
