AkzoNobel’s business area Specialty Chemicals (BASC) provides products that are integral to a number of industries and high profile customers. Within BASC, the Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs (PSRA) department is responsible for regulatory compliance, export control, chemical registrations, and product safety. PSRA’s objective is to gain competitive advantage through leadership in Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs. PSRA provides this support to five business units; Surface Chemistry, Industrial Chemicals, Polymer Chemistry, Pulp and Performance Chemicals and Ethylene and Sulfur Derivatives.

Product Regulatory Specialist
 

The role and its responsibilities
In this position you can work either from Deventer, the Netherlands or Stenungsund, Sweden. You will report to the Regional PSRA Manager EMEA.
 

Your core function is to provide regulatory expertise and advice to business, keeping up to date with the changing regulatory environment and proactively communicating the potential impact of emerging regulations. You also contribute to regional compliance, including substance registration.
Thus you monitor application specific regulatory requirements and perform registrations. You also monitor and interpret (existing and developing) legislation and assess its impact on business.
 

Further, you respond to customer enquiries related to regulatory matters such as inventory status, food contact status, eco labelling etc. You also perform compliance checks at a regional level and provide compliance documentation.
In addition you provide support in terms of customer training, attending business meetings and meeting strategic customers.
 

When new products or product changes are introduced you prepare all necessary PSRA information/documentation for the launch or import of the new/changed product to the region, and signing off in Product introduction systems.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Candidate profile
To apply for this position you must possess the following attributes:
 
• MSc in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or a related field and at least four years of relevant experience, or a BSc in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or a related field and at least 10 years of relevant experience;
• Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and their influence on business;
• Good skills in Microsoft Office Applications and in SAP/EHS;
• Flexible, reliable and willing to learn and support more than one business within BASC;
• Excellent communication skills including fluent written and spoken English, with any other languages as an advantage.
