Bring your Supply Chain Planning expertise to AkzoNobel Decorative Paints

Our Decorative Paints business adds color to people’s lives through a full range of quality products. We supply interior and exterior paints, lacquers and varnishes to professional decorators and DIY enthusiasts.
 

In the past four years, we have reallocated the Supply Chain Planning (Production and Materials) of various Europe & Africa sites to Sassenheim, the Netherlands. In our Supply Chain Planning center, which consists of more than 40 higher educated Supply Chain Planners from more than 20 different nationalities, we develop and implement leading best practices in Supply Chain Planning.
We have built a planning knowledge hub that is strategically located close to our Amsterdam Headquarters. Our way of working has proven to significantly increase service levels and decrease inventory for our Decorative Paints business.

Production Planning Manager
In this role your team creates an optimized production plan for the next 12 weeks for 4 of our European factories in close alignment with stakeholders. Your goal is to exceed service level targets at minimized supply chain costs within S&OP rules and operational constraints (such as limited capacity and minimal order quantities). We work in SAP-APO and supporting Excel tools.

In order to optimize the production plan and assure that the right follow up actions are triggered, you and your team keep close contacts with multiple stakeholders. The main stakeholders for production planning are the Marketing & Sales Unit (Country Supply Lead, Demand Planning), Material Planning, and the Manufacturing Unit (Production Manager, Scheduler).
 

While the focus of your team is operational, in order to reach service level and supply chain cost targets Supply Chain Planners are also expected to continuously review the SAP-APO settings. In addition, Supply Chain Planners lead and contribute to developing and sharing best practices within Supply Chain Planning.
 

Your team consists of 10-12 people with the same role. Team members support each other in operations, review of SAP-APO settings, and best practices. You lead the team in setting the performance and development objectives. Team members regularly align with their manager and pro-actively follow up on progress.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Who can apply?
This is a role for candidates with at least 4 years of experience with increasing management responsibilities and roles within Supply Chain generally and Planning specifically. Furthermore you have demonstrated excellence in your Supply Chain Management (or similar) education and bring knowledge and have a strong appetite to learn and contribute to the satisfaction of our customers and stakeholders.

Due to the high level of responsibility, this role is also ideal for candidates with experience in the same function in a similar environment or company dedicated to the production of paint/coatings or fluid FMCG, and who are flexible to adapt to new ways of production planning.


Suitable candidates:

- combine a high conceptual understanding of the trade-offs between SC KPIs and steering mechanisms with a data driven, fact based approach to problem solving
- are able to focus on a task, follow through and “get things done”.
- are stress resistant, and able to adapt to changing conditions and re-prioritize their tasks as needed
- have excellent communication skills and the ability to understand and foster the interfaces with stakeholders
- have an open mind and curiosity to understand other cultures and promote mutual understanding
- are fluent in English. Additional languages (e.g. French or Dutch) can be of benefit.
- are willing to travel for approximately 20-30% of their time to four of our Europe & Africa Decorative Paints plants.
- have a great ability to work alongside the Material Planning Manager to ensure production plans are feasible
- ensure all SAP planning parameters are accurate and cleansing occurs on an appropriate basis
- support Lifecycle Management for the products and factories planned
