One of our Specialty Chemical business units, Pulp and Performance Chemicals (PPC) has an outstanding opportunity for a passionate, experienced professional to assume the role of Environmental Support Specialist.   This new position is required to insure the control and follow-up of our compliance regarding environmental permits (license to operate) at all our PPC sites, follow-up of environmental performance at sites (consolidation at BU level), support sites in all ground and ground water plans (remediation etc.) and interact with Sustainability Manager.

The preferred location for this position is Marietta, Georgia. This position reports to the HSE Director.

Our Pulp and Performance Chemicals business has long been supplying industries worldwide with quality ingredients that are essential for manufacturing thousands of everyday products. Our pioneering portfolio includes bleaching chemical and systems, colloidal silica solutions, expandable microspheres, and silica packing and columns. You’ll find our essential ingredients in a whole host of products, including tissues, diapers, packaging, shoe soles, automotive coatings and sealants, decorative paints and coatings, smartphones, champagne corks, concrete, wallpaper, batteries, LED lamps, and pharmaceuticals. We work with industrial customers all over the world who count on our trusted and reliable brands, such as Eka, Expancel, Kromasil and Levasil Colloidal Silica.

This position will have the following responsibilities:
- Support sites in ensuring that they comply with their legal environmental requirements- Facilitate and propose technical solutions to correct deviations
- Leverage discussions with sites and operation managers to build correction/improvement plans and ,if required, Capex proposal

- Follow-up and assess all permit compliances - Plan and conduct audits to verify site compliance vs legal permits requirement.
- Built a complete overview of site legal compliance in relation with environmental aspect (air, water and ground) and share it through the compliance review.
- Evaluate risk and consequence of any deviation regarding permit and alert BU management accordingly.

- Ensure that all Environment parameters/KPI’s are correctly registered in EPM
- Ensure that operational Environmental management system are in place at sites and running (in alignment with ISO and RC standards)
- Follow and give complete overview of soil and groundwater remediation plans
- Insure that sites reviews waste stream periodically and integrate reduction plans in their Site Improvement Plan
- Establish and consolidate BU Eco Efficiency targets  for recycling and re-use of waste
- Provide necessary training and guidance within the BU.
- Represent the BU in Corporate Environment Network.
- Participate in Environmental and Corporate HSE audit 
- Interact with Sustainability Manager to leverage Sustainability performances

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- BSc in Engineering or Chemistry or 5 – 7 years equivalent work experience; MSc Engineering or Chemistry or 8 – 10 years equivalent work experience 
- Work experience in Environment/Sustainability
- Strong strategic and conceptual skills with ability to execute and follow through;
- Positive influencing: ability to convince others, gain agreement or acceptance of plans, activities and ability to move others willingly towards a desired goal or course of action;
- Ability to drive continuous improvement of the processes, policies, standards;
- Able to work in an inclusive way in the HSE community to make sure the business experiences ‘one voice’ and the teams’ collective objectives are met;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, entrepreneurship, result oriented, negotiation, problem solving, project management, business acumen;
- Very good verbal and written English language skills;
- Relevant experience in different multiple units, disciplines, locations and/or other companies;
