1. An experimental researcher who has the ability to conduct research work professionally, scientifically, and deliver outcomes in a timely manner. This includes defining objectives, drafting plans, reviewing progress, analyzing results.
2. To research and develop core technologies and/ or binder systems that can be commercialized in targeted market segments and regions in conjunction with regional laboratories.
3. To propose approaches to achieve the specified project objectives, plan and execute the necessary laboratory activities and aide in the establishment of product processing criteria with a high degree of independence.
4. To maintain a current knowledge of raw materials available from third party vendors as well as from internal sources. Identifies/ participates in joint development projects with suppliers, or utilized as a resource to evaluate technology license opportunities to maximize the use of proprietary technology to gain competitive advantage. 
5. To champions or assist in the development of technology/ formulating guidelines, process and design FMEA’s, and control plans to document intellectual property, define limitations/ guidelines for technologies, and communicate “know how”. 
6. To ensure all activities in the area of responsibility are conducted under the guidelines of AkzoNobel SSHE policy.
7. To write necessary reports, technical plans, and other internal correspondence to ensure appropriate project and business communications.
8. To work collaboratively with global AkzoNobel technical network and external parties to keep a consistent quality of work and Ensure effective development and delivery of results
9. Liaising with businesses, working collaboratively across boundaries so as ensure that all relevant business information is taken into account as the projects proceed, thereby ensuring that they remain aligned with evolving business strategy/needs.
10. Requires ongoing dialog with R&DI laboratories/ polymer development, suppliers, regional laboratories, and interface as necessary with customers, commercial managers, and operations.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- 1. Minimum Bachelor in Chemistry or Polymer Sciences, Materials Science or Engineering and/or at least three years research experience in a university, research institution or industrial company.
- 2. Expertise area in silicone synthesis/modification would be beneficial.
- 3, Experience with coating technologies for spray applications and film processes for industrial applications is beneficial;
- 4. Candidates should be experimentalists.
- 5. Excellent interpersonal skills
- 6. Project management.
- 7. Computer literate
- 8. Competence in the English language to at least level CET-6 (or IELTS/ToEFL equivalents)
