AkzoNobel has an opening for a Finance Manager in our Marietta, Georgia location. The Finance Manager is responsible for all Finance & Control support to Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) for AkzoNobel’ s Pulp & Performance Chemicals Business Unit (BU).The BU ISC Finance manager coordinates the ISC finance agenda within the scope of the ISC strategy and the BU Finance Agenda. He/she sets the priorities which programs and projects are to be executed in what order. He/she develops process for this agenda and implements it with help of the MFU controllers.

Purpose of Job
1. To align the finance support with the ISC ambitions and processes.
2. Being business partner to the BU ISC Director Operations and the Capex director in ISC.
3. Development & implementation of standardized governance for productivity improvement, KPI dashboard, ALPS and L6.
4. Responsible for coordination within the BU and (as part of the BA ISC team) between the BUs on various controlling, accounting, legal and information management projects to ensure consistency, standard approach and transparency. He/she is involved in all key business decisions and provides financial and fiscal advice and support (solicited and non-solicited) to the BU ISC operations.

Key Objectives
• To align the finance support with the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) ambitions and processes:
o Improvement of finance support
o Governance process in ISC
o Compliance, adherence to WebFEM
o Data transparency and integrity
o Cost control & productivity management
o Standardization of key analysis
o Support for key investment projects

• To align with the MFU’s on ISC related items
• Stakeholder management on different levels (BU MT, Business MT, BA, Sites, other
• Width and depth of the role: from basic (financial management) reporting to decision support information reporting: alignment, standardization

Business & Management Support
• Strategic impact: Responsible for financial analysis on strategic ISC projects, initiating alternative strategic scenarios.
• Business performance improvement: Develops and implements financial performance measurement tools for the ISC function. Coordinates and trains Site Controllers (with help of MFU controllers) to develop site specific performance measurement metrics and to execute root cause analysis on deviations on KPI / metric targets. Challenges on outside opportunities like grants, local alignment, progress on restructuring and productivity improvement initiatives with financial implications etc.
• Opportunity identification and follow up: based on performance and analyses of KPI’s develops new opportunities for improvement to the business. Plays a leading role in driving the delivery of the identified improvements using the tools.
• and methods (e.g. AkzoNobel Tracker)
• Improvement culture: Drives behavioral change to go beyond analyses of the root causes of performance deviation and guides the culture to learning from the analyses to define and implement initiatives to improve performance.
• Decision support: leading role in adequate framing of decisions so that relevant business information is considered and assessed against the business/function objectives.
• Costing – Overall responsible for the product costing of all products in the business unit
• Finance leadership: Finance role model.

Financial Planning & Analysis:
• Business performance improvement: Leads and analyzes actual performance versus forecast/target in close cooperation with local stakeholders. Ensures effective forward looking capabilities translated in reliable financial forecasting. Drives and improves (with help of MFU controllers) local processes on analyzing and forecasting.
• Financial planning: Coordinates the planning process of the Sites according to BU guidelines/ time table. Identifies foreseeable financial risks and opportunities.

Accounting & Financial Reporting:
• General Accounting: clear awareness and knowledge of accounting requirements related to supply chain topics.

Governance, Risk Management and Internal Control:
• Enterprise risk management: Risk management on ISC and business connected (financial) risks, mitigating action planning cascading procedures.
• Internal Control/compliance: Ensures together with the MFU controllers adequate internal control framework across the ISC function. Process owner for internal and external financial audits and AUD audits across ISC function. Identifies internal control risks arising from the Site strategy and plans. Ensures adherence to Corporate and BU authority schedules. Optimizes and safeguards effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls and assures compliance with In Control.

Projects Management & Others:
• Acts as project finance lead impacting projects such as L6Sigma, ISC Finance network within AkzoNobel. Provides support and opportunities for Site Controllers’ involvement in key projects.
• Creates an environment enabling staff to realize and improve results within their own job and within the department and BU. Ensure focus on improving financial results within the agreed upon strategy.
• Guarantee optimal communication of decisions and decision-making processes. Continuously improve information exchange and meeting structures.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economic, Finance or equivalent; MBA degree is a plus.
• 5-10 years working experience in different financial functions: Previous experience working in a production environment or with supply chain department required.
• Understanding of accounting principles
• Strong financial analytical skills
• Strong process manager: Ability to translate requirements into processes
• Previous project management skills: Affinity and interest in working with cross functional teams
• Oversees the big picture, while also understanding the lower granularity
• Proven self-starter / problem solver / implementer
