Responsibility

Bring an expert and ‘can do’ approach to key projects for a leading chemicals producer

AkzoNobel’s business unit Industrial Chemicals produces and markets high purity salt, chlorine, caustic lye, hydrochloric acid, chloromethanes and monochloroacetic acid. These products are essential in daily life and are for example used in the manufacture of vehicles, glass, performance plastics, pharmaceuticals, feed and foodstuffs (e.g. Jozo, Nezo, OneGrain and KNZ), textiles and disinfectants for swimming pools. Industrial Chemicals has approximately 1,900 employees mainly based in Europe and China.

Within this context, your mission is to play a leading role in optimizing existing production processes and the development of new production processes in our chlorine and chloromethane plants. We are looking for strong process engineers both in Rotterdam-Botlek (Netherlands) and Frankfurt (Germany).

Is this a challenge that matches your skills and ambitions? Are you a results-focused team player with good communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate others? Do you have the resilience and readiness to tackle short assignments within the Netherlands and Germany? Above all, do you have the energy and enthusiasm to make a difference within our dynamic, multinational and multicultural business environment? If you offer all this and more, we invite you to apply for the role of (Senior) Development Process Engineer.

The role and its responsibilities
This is a multi-facing role that involves you in the broad and challenging areas of Research & Development, Technology, Engineering, Business and Manufacturing. Your particular focus is the initiation and implementation of projects that will lead to improvements in areas such as productivity, growth, product quality, and plant safety and compliance.
You will work as part of multi-disciplinary teams in order to deliver cost-effective solutions on time, on target and on budget. In particular you create and develop relevant know-how and best practices to improve our processes.

All of this requires the ability to carry out and lead projects, while working collaboratively
across boundaries. As such, the role demands strong people, communication and
interpersonal skills, and the credibility to act as a convincing and persistent team-player who can build trustful relations.
