Responsibility

AkzoNobel Protective Coatings –has an outstanding opportunity for an Account Representative. The Account Representative is responsible for the selling or influencing others, establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships, obtain and analyze information, the ability to make good decisions and solve customer related problems. This position will be responsible for their defined geographic area and business targets, including sales numbers, margins and expenses. The customer base includes, but is not limited to Engineers, Contractors, Owners and Fabricators involved in the corrosion protection of steel for both the new construction and maintenance markets.

This position services the South TX area

Specific Tasks:
- Contact new and existing customers to discuss their needs, and to explain how our products and services can met their needs
- Quote prices, credit terms and other bid specifications
- Negotiate prices and terms of sales and service agreements
- Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences
- Prepare sales contracts for orders obtained, and submit orders for processing
- Maintain customer records, using automated systems
- Developing customer relations and technical service coordination
- Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms
- Emphasize product features based on analyses of customers' needs, and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations
- Select the correct products, or assist customers in making product selections, based on customers' needs, product specifications, and applicable regulations
- Travel required throughout territory, typically upwards of 25%

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- High School Diploma Required; college degree preferred

- 5-7 years sales experience with coatings industry

- Experience in protective coatings sales preferred

- NACE certification strongly preferred

- Speaking to others to convey information effectively

- Persuading others to change their minds or behavior

- Active listening and giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times

- Excellent time management skills, managing one's own time and occasionally the time of others

- Solid negotiation skills, bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences

- Strong service orientation, actively looking for ways to help people

- Social perceptiveness, being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do

- Critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

- Active learning, understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making

- Good computer skills including customer relationship management CRM software, internal database and Microsoft Office

- Requires a valid driver’s license and approximately 25% travel
