To support the European Logistics Manager in planning, progressing and completing discrete logistics tasks & projects covering warehouse and freight management, change, cost reduction and process improvement (both internally and with key external partners).
·         Oversee the contract management of the UK outsourced warehouse and freight operations ensuring required service levels are met at the lowest cost.
·         Managing and participating in logistics development projects throughout Europe outside of day-to-day management of logistics operations to:
o   Seek cost reduction and/or process/service improvement
o   Alignment with AkzoNobel logistics strategy
o   Collaboration on cross-BA/SMU activities (LCRs, CI projects)
o   Executing SMU specific activities (audits, Ops reviews)
·         Define and analyse monthly KPI and activity reports to identify improvement opportunities.
·         Conducting benchmarking activities, proposing alternative logistics providers and participating in tender exercises and contract negotiations.
·         Assist in projects to move warehouses and change transport companies once agreed through tendering processes.
·         Developing logistics operations activity reports and KPIs.
·         Ensure all stakeholders and responsible parties are aligned in the tasks identified.
·         Developing logistics ‘tools’ (using MS Excel, Access, VBA etc) to enhance local logistics managers and operations.
·         Provide support in the management of European outsourced warehouse operations.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

·         Strong experience working within the logistics environment (preferably with dangerous goods).
·         UK & European third party logistics provider (3PL) management experience is desirable.
·         Excellent organisational, data management and analytical skills.
·         Proven project management background. Strong ability to obtain project input and promote support from many different stakeholders.
·         Procurement experience (RFQ prep, analysis, contract development and negotiation).
·         High level of administration skills.
·         Methodical and structured approach to project management.
·         Flexible ability to handle multiple and complex tasks.
·         Clear communicator at all levels. Ability to engage and influence.
·         Analytical but able to theorize. Creative and Innovative.
·         Strong ethical viewpoint.
·         Up-to-date knowledge of key aspects within the Logistics industry.
·         Excel and PowerPoint presentation skills – to advanced level.
·         Other software (Access, VBA, Word, Outlook etc.) – to intermediate level.
·         Able to work alone or contribute to teams, as required.
Education/Certificates/Licences/Registration required
·         Professionally qualified or working towards a relevant vocational qualification preferred.
