Aim Designing and deploying World Class Maintenance in ALPS
 

Job Context(Nature & Scope of the Business)
·         AkzoNobel is implementing ALPS (AkzoNobel Leading Performance Systems), ensuring company-wide standardized processes, a culture of continuous improvement, process-centric behaviours, AkzoNobel values and required capabilities.
·         Business Area Specialty Chemicals is responsible for designing and deploying World Class Maintenance; as part of ALPS. Deployment is ongoing; focus now is on standardizing work processes, roles and systems.
·         Next step is development and deployment of Precision Maintenance and world class Reliability standards.
·         The position is part of the BA Deployment organization and will focus on Maintenance and Reliability.
·         The position will work on process, method, tool and training design and will be part of deployment teams. Deployment requires frequent travel (on average 75% of the time). Predominantly in home continent; but also outside home continent.
·         Sites will have varying maturity levels in maintenance processes and desired culture
 
 

 
Key Objectives/Principal Accountabilities
 
      Design:
·         Participates in the design team. Does design work and aligns with team to ensure the overall package is complete in content and one package with one look and feel and one approach.
·         Responsible for design of part of the World Class Maintenance and Reliability program.
This can include Precision Maintenance, Reliability process and methods, Supporting processes and tools, Standards and Training materials.
Deployment:
·         Responsible for assessing the current state at site and developing and agreeing with site a deployment plan for the work processes, methods and tools.
·         Responsible for managing (monitoring, reporting, communication, progress and metrics) the deployment of the maintenance work processes, tools and methods on the site according to the plan.
·         Responsible for supporting, coaching and training the operational managers and employees on sites. This includes supporting them in the change process (change leadership). The site is accountable for implementing, the maintenance expert motivates, energizes, guides, supports and challenges.
·         Responsible for aligning with experts for other work streams in their team and feeding back valuable insights to the Operational Excellence Team Lead
 
 

 
Pre-requisites for Job (education or experience required to be able to perform this job):
Experience/education:
·         Extensive and hands-on experience in Maintenance management, Maintenance Engineering and/or Reliability Engineering
·         In-depth knowledge of state of the art maintenance processes and tools
·         At least Bsc degree in Technology, Engineering or similar discipline
·         Preferred:
o    Experience in continuous improvement tools such as Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous Improvement methodologies and tools
o    Experience in implementing maintenance work processes and cultural change
o    Proficient in SAP-PM
o    Experienced in Process Safety Management
·         (In-depth knowledge of ALPS processes and methodologies; part of training)

·         Passion for world class maintenance and showing that.
·         Able to lead workshops and working groups
·         Taking information from real life observations, eager to spend time on the shop-floor
·         Good communication skills, from plant managers to line operators. Able to influence and get things done without having a line management relation.

·         Good problem-solving skills, able to identify and structure issues, run accurate analyses and synthesize recommendations

Development and next steps
 
·         Design and implementation of world class maintenance is a key part of the Business Area Integrated Supply Chain strategy and is expected to continue as a program well into the 2020’s.
·         Job holder will gain broad maintenance excellence and change leadership experience in different countries and cultures (global) as well as get to know many of the AkzoNobel sites and processes. AkzoNobel regards this as a prime asset for its maintenance leaders.
·         Depending on performance, capabilities and personal preference next positions for the job holder will typically be leading/senior maintenance positions at manufacturing sites or regional maintenance support functions.
