Key Objective of the Job:
• The development and application of durable, high performance coatings for aerospace and automotive industry


Job Responsibilities:
• Will report to a Group Leader for Specialty Coatings Product Development
• Maintains and promotes a safe work environment, complying with safety policies and procedures. Follows safe work practices for personal and equipment safety, in both the laboratory and in the field. End results are zero or minimum safety incidents and a clean, orderly working environment.
• Conducts a significant level of formulation and technical work in the lab as defined in the project plan, under the supervision of senior chemist
• Documents lab results through appropriate means including laboratory notebooks, interim and full reports, project meeting minutes, and monthly summaries. When visiting customers, writes call reports with its corresponding action items.
• The Product Development Chemist is expected to spend significant time in the lab. It is the responsibility of the job holder to ask appropriate questions to clarify requirements, expectations and critical performance parameters.
• Strong knowledge of chemical principles
• Familiarity with characterization techniques such as mechanical, chemical and related techniques is desirable.
• Ability to conceive, plan, execute and communicate laboratory development and testing programs.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry/Science, Material Science or Chemical engineering required
• 0-5 yrs formulating (water borne) experience  in the aerospace industry 
• Prior experience working in a lab 
• Prior experience with fire retardant or heat release coatings is a plus 
• Team Player, self-starter, driven and willing to get hands dirty as needed
• Must be able to wear a respirator to perform this job
