Biocidal Product Registration Specialist
Salary circa £28,000, 25 days holiday, pension, flexible benefits scheme & staff discounts
As a Graduate with a degree in a scientific discipline you will be joining our biocides team within our Performance Coatings, Product Stewardship and Regulatory Affairs (PSRA) department. This is a really exciting time to join as the end of 2017 marks the deadline for submission of many dossiers enabling continued supply of biocidal antifouling products under the Biocidal Product Regulation 528/2012.
As a Biocidal Product Registration Specialist within the global biocide team you will be evaluating and validating data sources and ensuring regulatory compliance by contributing to assembly and submission of biocidal product registration dossiers along with resolving and responding to customer enquiries and regulatory authority questions accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant global biocide and biocidal product regulations and guidance.
- Prepare and submit BPR biocidal product dossiers.
- Provide guidance to assure compliance for AkzoNobel raw materials and products.
- Produce regulatory compliance statements for customers using Article 95 standard templates.
- Communicate effectively both internally (other departments) and externally (customers, regulators, suppliers).
- Question validity and accuracy of data and seek advice to maintain compliant biocidal product registrations in Europe.
- Develop a good understanding of customer needs and relevant regulatory topics affecting the business.
- Assist translation of complex regulatory requirements to practical implications for the business.
- Identify potential non compliances and areas of risk to the business.
- Establish the impact on Performance Coatings businesses, of biocide and biocidal product legislative changes and support PSRA team leaders in communicating legal requirements.
- Coordinate external studies and certification work.
- Maintain biocide section of the PSRA intranet site including maintenance of the product registration database.
- Contribute to cross functional global project teams as required to advise on biocidal product registration related issues.
- Identify and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of standard procedures (e.g. SOPs, ISO procedures).
- Review new products, new raw materials and product changes for regulatory compliance. 
- Conduct biocide approval and use reviews.
- Conduct risk assessments to determine if uses are safe.

You are fluent in both written and spoken English, have good interpersonal skills and are a real team player. An analytical thinker who has the ability to understand complex information through data manipulation and analysis with the ability to produce fit for purpose reports and make informed decisions based on your findings.
- Knowledge of biocide and biocidal product regulations.
- Background in product regulations, hazard communication and product stewardship.
- Experience of working in an industrial environment.
- Experience of working within the framework of a quality management system i.e. ISO 9001:2008
- Experience with IUCLID and R4BP
