Support us to apply state-of-the art Non-Destructive Testing techniques at all our sites

AkzoNobel’s Industrial Chemicals (IC) business unit (BU) produces and markets high purity salt, chlorine, caustic lye, hydrochloric acid, chloromethanes and monochloroacetic acid (MCA). These products are essential to daily life and used in the manufacture of vehicles, glass, performance plastics, pharmaceuticals, feed and foodstuffs, textiles and disinfectants. IC has a global presence with plants and joint ventures in the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany and China.

IC deploys Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to verify the integrity of the pressure systems as part of maintenance and inspection as well as to confirm the quality of supplied services from vendors for both new equipment and repairs. Within this context, your mission is to identify and select suitable NDT methods, validate techniques, assess and approve NDT procedures, maintain relationships with NDT companies, lead field testing and perform the interpretation, administration and reporting of NDT results. In addition, you provide the inspectors of the user inspectorate with work instructions and tool box meetings for proper NDT usage.

Is this a challenge that matches your skills as an NDT expert with extensive experience and knowledge of NDT markets and methods? Can you evaluate results so that we avoid false calls which result in unnecessary downtime and anticipate on missed defects to avoid unexpected events? Do you have the credibility to influence, convince and work at the level of Site Asset Management regarding NDT topics? Above all, can you make a real difference within our dynamic, multinational and multicultural business environment? If you offer all this and more, we invite you to apply for the position of Senior Non-Destructive-Testing Engineer.

The role and its responsibilities
The role is based in Arnhem, The Netherlands. You support all IC sites in the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark and, occasionally China. As such, you travel for approximately 50% of your time as you lead all aspects of the robust implementation of NDT methods.

Thus you identify on-site customer needs to tackle specific NDT or inspection related issues. You also identify shortcomings in current procedures and drive improvements as part of our efforts to continuously improve maintenance, inspection and turnarounds.
As the Senior NDT expert you lead decision making when faced with critical/complex issues. This includes the evaluation and validation of vendors of NDT measurements and the promotion of new technologies.
In addition you support the development of IC-wide programs to improve the content of Inspection-related processes, maintaining excellent relations with ruling authorities, inspection departments, and Site Asset Management. In doing so, you support the retention of Licence to Operate at sites, and contribute to collecting measurable equipment history.
As the NDT expert for IC you keep personnel up-to-date with recent trends, support the exchange of knowledge and best practice between sites, educate the workforce, and answer NDT related questions. You evaluate vendors and contractors regarding their quality systems.
