This is a remote position that can be based out of Orange, Irvine, San Diego or any major city in Southern California.

Objective:
Manage a defined sales territory through effective market planning and time management, includes management and leadership of assigned Territory Sales Representatives (approximately 9 direct reports). The DSL is responsible for achieving annual sales/volume growth and territorial profit margin objectives. They should have a clear focus on sales team management and development.

Responsibilities:
• Manage a number of Territory Sales Representatives to achieve their territory budget and business plans by maintaining current accounts and selling new accounts.
• Responsible for Key Account relationship management in the assigned geography and ongoing liaison with Strategic Sales on prospect development.
• Coach, provide feedback, and assist sales staff to ensure individual and team goals are achieved.
• Mentor direct reports through Performance Development and Dialog process to ensure a full understanding of each employee’s capabilities, development opportunities and career path.
• Have extensive knowledge and ability to be the sales leader most capable on the team to explain and teach the features and benefits of Akzo products & services.
• Resolves conflict between Distributors and enforces territory assignments.
• Have a complete understanding of all Distributor programs, including discount hurdles, Distributor Supply agreements, Lesonal CIP funds, credit authorizations, and PBE Certification program requirements.
• Assist in the coordination of Technical, Services, and Strategic Accounts to support their staff’s sales and account maintenance needs.
• Assist and direct in the education and development of Distributor staff & customers on the proper use of Akzo products and services.
• Promote the continued development of multiple relationships (3x3) between Akzo staff and customers.
• Manage the expense budgets, company assets & equipment utilized by their field staff. Works in conjunction with the Regional Sales Leader for the budget process and region planning activities.
• Manage the timely and accurate completion of all training and reports including Pipeline Tools, Win/Loss report, Mutual Action Plans for Distributors and MVC customers and Safety training.
• Manage staff to adhere to all Akzo health and safety policies at all times in daily activities.
• Manage all Akzo team members with professional respect and consideration at all times.
• Interviews, hires, trains and appraises employees including the administration of rewards and discipline. Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

• Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college preferred, minimum High School Diploma.
• Minimum 10 years proven track record growing sales, managing a sales team, and knowledge of PBE distributors business models.  • Minimum 10 years in the vehicle refinishes industry.
• Ability to operate and communicate effectively with all customers from senior management through to body shop technicians.
• Financial analysis skills, ability to understand balance sheets and business management propositions.
• Excellent communications skills - in writing, presentations, public speaking and one-to-one negotiations.
• Strong personal motivation, willingness to learn and adapt to different business priorities.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass background screening.
• Travel predominantly within defined territory.
