AkzoNobel Inc.–has an outstanding opportunity for a Benefit Specialist. The primary function of the Benefit Specialist is to manage updates to leave and disability policies, proactively manage leave claim status with managers, processing of premium payments, and running eligibility files.  Also includes the review of vendor contracts and review of printing of SPD booklets.
Specific Tasks:
- Maintain administration of life insurance plans, disability plans and accident plans including responding to our internal customers on leave policy, plan design interpretation, clarification, eligibility issues, and claim issues
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all internal and external policies, local and federal regulations
- Develops training for internal customers on internal policy and best practice specific to leave management.
- Develop and manage vendor relationships
- Act as a back-up to the administration of short term and long term disability programs by ensuring pay is accurate, claims are handled timely by the vendor, FML and ADA are monitored for compliance purposes
- Act as a back-up for 401K and Pension administration and assistance

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum of three (3) years of Health & Welfare (H&W) experience
- Knowledge of administration on Health & Welfare benefits program, familiar with computer applications (Microsoft Products, MyHR, HWSE)
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once and customer service oriented
- Ability to work independently and have the flexibility to meet continuous changing demands/goals
- Ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbally
