Overview

The Quality Control Technician at the Fort Worth plant is responsible for sampling, monitoring, and adjustment of various tanks, equipment, and outfalls as well as performing analytical testing and analysis, recording of testing results, retaining records, releasing of raw material as well as in-process and finished products to production and warehouse personnel. This involves recording of material status and designating goods movement in the computer system based on specification comparisons. Also required is the recycling disposal of previously obtained raw material and finished product samples as well as calibration and maintenance of laboratory testing equipment and requisitioning supplies and equipment required for laboratory use.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform calibration and preventive maintenance on laboratory testing equipment.
• Manual & automated addition of acid, caustic, various chemicals, and Water for tank and equipment adjustments.
• Determining specifications and correlate data to make decisions on status
• Opening and disposing of various container contents and moving 5 gallon containers to the disposition areas.
• Recording analytical test results and computer entry of analytical data.
• Follows established safety and environmental policies and procedures, and promotes continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance in the workplace.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Skills, Education and Certification Requirements

• Handling Chemicals, Reagents, Glassware, Equipment, Cleaning Glassware, and following safe laboratory practices.
• Using calculators and recording data onto forms.
• Ability to operate a variety of laboratory and electronic testing and monitoring equipment.
• Chemistry degree and Quality Control laboratory and testing experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Work involves occasional exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, fumes, and smoke.
• Requires occasional heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds such as bags or 5 gallon pails.
• Climbing stairs, ladders, stretching.
• Wearing high-level safety suit, goggles, face shield, etc. in various ambient conditions when spotting for railcar personnel or performing hazardous task.
