With a degree or equivalent qualification in Purchasing Management/Business Studies/Production Control and, ideally, experience in a procurement role you are ready to step up a level and join a business that will encourage your input, welcome your ideas and act on them. That business is AkzoNobel. Home to world class brands we are now recruiting a Materials Planner to oversee raw material supply in-line with production activity.
 
As Materials Planner and you will help customer service delivery by planning the flow of materials into the factory, monitoring inventory levels and overseeing the ordering of materials as required with-in operational constraints. Using planning systems you will optimise inventory levels and ensure availability to make sure production orders are delivered on time. This will mean liaising with Production Planning colleagues to formulate weekly and monthly material supply plans, working with onsite material controllers to ensure a good understanding of local constraints and material flows as well as with local procurement to monitor supplier performance and solve supplier issues. Important too, will be the ability to engage with internal departments and external suppliers to identify ways to drive continuous improvement activities across operations to deliver best practice in material planning and purchasing processes.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Qualified in Purchasing Management, Business Studies or Production Control you will ideally have experience in a procurement or production planning role. You must have a good understanding of stock, its drivers and methods to improve its management too. Expertise with SAP-APO especially SNP and ECC-PP would be desirable. You work collaboratively, are comfortable liaising with multiple departments and have an eye for detail. Highly numerate you will also possess good communication and analytical skills. You will also be the sort of person who is passionate about excellence and delivers on commitments.
