Our Specialty Chemical’s manufacturing site in Lima, OH has an outstanding opportunity for a passionate, experienced professional to assume the role of Maintenance Material Planner. This site is a Joint Venture between two of the largest chemical companies in the world – AkzoNobel and BASF, offering a developmental opportunity within both organizations!
Fort Amanda Specialties is a production joint venture between AkzoNobel and BASF for the production of Chelates. The plant operates 24/7 with day shift support from Maintenance and crafts people on call for service after regular hours if needed.  A significant part of the plant’s equipment is designed for lethal service because of the usage of some highly hazardous raw materials like HCN. This adds extra requirements to the job regarding knowledge, skills, and strict application of procedures while designing, constructing and maintaining piping, tanks, reactors and equipment.
Manage, coordinate, specify, quote, and plan material requirements for Maintenance work flow; optimize use of Maintenance repair and operating supply (MRO) materials by ensuring that critical materials are available when required while minimizing overall value; identify/utilize KPIs to report, analyze and implement actions to drive improvements; provide leadership/vision in driving continuous improvement.
MRO-storeroom management
- Establish/maintain documents & procedures (QWB)
- Maintain/manage list of critical spares (optimize min/max levels in SAP)
- Maintain/manage equipment BOM (SAP)
- Manage satellite storage areas (storage racks, off-site warehouse, relief devices)
- Manage obsolescence (work with Accounting within SAP)
- Manage VMI accounts (work with Supply Chain)
- Manage OPS critical consumable spare materials (SAP)
- Establish/Manage audit schedule (to include cycle-counts)
- Manage third-party rebuild activities (follow-up/track equipment in-out)
Material planning Maintenance repairs
- Manage kitting process (procedures, expansion plan, optimization)
- Kit materials (SAP)
- Deliver kits to designated locations within shops
- Return unused materials to inventory (SAP)
5S of assigned areas
- Identify areas of need
- Establish/Manage plan for maintaining standard
- Sign for/distribute vendor deliveries
- Stock critical spares on shelves
- Package/ship materials for  MTC/OPS
- Identify & establish Key Performance Indicators
- Use KPI to drive/report improvements
- Expediting materials/services
- Interact with vendors
- Identify/establish favorable Purchase Agreements (work with Supply Chain)
- Get material quotes
Administrative Duties
- Material receipt, issue, posting, purchase, change, creation, search, tracking, reporting (SAP)
- Daily release of Maintenance Plans (SAP & EXCEL)
- Enter hours worked by crafts (SAP)
- Close work orders (SAP)
- Maintain spreadsheets for Parts Backlog, Material Tracking (EXCEL)
- Creation of Blanket work orders & Blanket purchase orders (SAP)
- Scan/organize key documents for MTC work flow
- Submit/complete P&D objectives on-time/meet expectations.

- Assist Production Superintendent (as needed).

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- Associates Degree in business or technical field.

- Five (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in MS Office, especially WORD and EXCEL.
- Proficient knowledge of MRP, strongly preferred SAP.
- Customer service
- Ability to work independently with limited guidance.
- Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- A demonstrated ability in planning and organizing, controlling, coordinating and directing materials management.
- Experience as a Buyer/Purchasing agent a plus.
