Responsibility

Job Context(Nature & Scope of the Business)
- Polymer Chemistry is a leading business of AkzoNobel active in the polymer industry. It supplies specialty chemicals and processing aids to the whole polymer chain from polymer producers to compounders, processors and even to recycling of the polymer. Its activity is mainly split in several segments: - Initiators and co-catalysts for polymer production
- chemical intermediates for non-polymer applications (e.g. Pharma)
- crosslinking agents and additives for the rubber industry and additives for polyolefins
- curing agents, processing aids and auxiliaries for the composite market;

- BU PC is divided into 3 regional businesses: EMEIA (Europe, Middle-East, India & Africa), the Americas and Asia Pacific.
                                      
 
Key Objectives/Principal Accountabilities(kindly limit to a maximum of eight)
 
- Qualitative- Provides technical service for TSA customer throughout the Americas
- Travels to customers (mainly in the US) to give advice around the handling and use of our products. Will also conduct safety trainings.
- Will perform field and customer service lab tests in close cooperation with global RD&I in Deventer the Netherlands and the Americas S&M organization.
- Is responsible for analysing and evaluating AkzoNobel and competitor’s curing systems.
- Understands & analyses customers’ needs and market trends and transmits these needs into proposals for R&D programs. For this purpose the TSM will develop a technical working relationship with technology providers, customers, equipment manufacturers, and other major market players to ensure market development trend information will be obtained at first hand.
- Instrumental for technical development of new business at new and existing accounts by introducing new products/concepts. This is managed through technical opportunities in the CRM system- Ensures an effective collaboration with RD&I and the Sales & Marketing team. Prioritizes defined opportunities (in CRM) together with the TSA S&M Manager
- Communicates and promotes the approved product market combination within the Sales and Marketing teams. Creates conditions to ensures market/application knowledge is communicated/transferred to the relevant Sales & market team members

- Responsible for distributor training sessions and technical knowledge management (technical training / knowledge transfer) of the sales managers
- Development of own technical knowledge of product lines and product application for the assigned product lines. De TSM will develop himself as an expert in the TSA field

 
- Quantitative    - Achieve new business development targets for the assigned product line
- Achieve project goals within time targets.
- Minimum number of call reports per month.

 
 
Functional Responsibilities/Network(kindly limit to a maximum of five)
- Internal interactions:- Liaison with specific service departments: Sales and Marketing, supply chain, marketing communication, regulatory affairs, RD&I.

- External interactions: - Customer base ranging from medium to large manufacturing companies to multi-national concerns;
- Distributors covering the small size customers;
- Contacts range from shop floor to senior management personnel;

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Requirements for Job (education or experience required to be able to perform this job):
- Has completed an academic education in science, preferably chemistry or chemical engineering.
- 2-5 years of technical experience in a business to business environment (sales/technical service experience is a strong plus).
- Has knowledge in the thermoset/unsaturated polyester area.
- Has excellent communication skills.
- Should have talent and ambition to work in a technical sales environment.
- Is open minded for cultural diversity and willing to travel extensively (30-50%).
- Has good project management skills.
- Has excellent commercial skills in order to establish good relationships with customers.
- Has a strong drive
- Has strong computer skills with ability to use spreadsheet, database, presentation, and word processing software
