Responsibility

To supervise all production functions and personnel to ensure that production goals are met.  Responsible for managing the day-to-day aspects of running a shift as well as being a front line resource for both information and action regarding the day-to-day items which affect our daily performance.
 
Responsible for taking an active improvement role on a day-to-day basis, including:
·         Ensuring that the daily production data is collected accurately on all machines.
·         Understanding what are the top reasons for list time, lost output, and poor quality and taking appropriate corrective actions.
·         Providing information to the Daily production meeting regarding the top reasons, their cause and what can/has been done to prevent reoccurrence.
·         Taking specific preventative action, ensuring that permanent fixes are put in place for these top reasons.
·         Handing over of all of the above information to the following shift supervisor via a shift hand over meeting.
 
Duties also include:
 
·         Manage the shift on a day-to-day basis to ensure the following issues are planned:
·         Address absenteeism, including vacation planning, by scheduling manpower as needed following collective bargaining agreement.
·         Batch Paperwork
·         Liaising with QA sharing appropriate information to ensure department goals are met.
·         Train, motivate, and supervise production operators who produce mixes, extrudate, and prepare finished milled products to ensure finished goods meet product specifications, and that proper records are maintained.
·         Promotes the current quality system through adhering to the elements of and being familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and procedures. 
·         Maintain a safe working environment, following all safety rules and procedures.
·         Promotes the quality system through adhering to the elements of and being familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and procedures.
·         Attend and participate in Powder Plant Programs/Committees/Training as required, such as Department Safety, Plant Safety, Behavioural Safety, Housekeeping Audit Teams, ISO, Life Saving Rules or any other safety programs.
·         Participate in the Powder Safety Journey. Adhere to the Golden Principle which is   Simply to intervene to stop work if conditions or behaviour are unsafe.
·         Promotes health, safety and environmental regulations by ensuring that standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.
·         Performs other duties as required for the success of Akzo Nobel Coatings Inc.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

·         B.S. in Chemistry or related field or five years Powder Coatings experience in a production environment. 
·         Prior supervisory experience preferred. 
·         Must have strong communication skills and be able to interface with all manufacturing personnel.
