We are looking for a
 
Regional Research & Development Manager Coil Coatings North and S&E Europe  (m/f)
 
In this exciting job opportunity you will play an important role in strengthening our Coil Coatings business in its leading market position. As a member of the Regional Management Team, you will contribute to our strategy and be responsible for its execution in your area of responsibility. The position will be located in Hilden / Germany.
 
Your responsibilities:

- Having a strong focus on delivering value for the business, you are responsible for improving the commercial potential of the existing products and the development of new products, thus driving innovation and future growth.
- The key focus will be on innovation, improving product performance and production processes, reducing costs and batch cycles times, and improving our color service.
- You will be managing our seven R&D labs in the area, leading ca. 100 employees.
- As a hands-on manager you will partner with commercial, marketing and manufacturing functions to deliver commercial value by bringing new products to the market, supporting customer trials, and introducing new formulas and program to improve RFT.
- As a strong people manager, you select, develop, motivate and coordinate staff to empower employees to effectively fulfil and exceed our R&D objectives. 
- You are close to our customers based in the area – especially Germany, France and Russia - and understand the market needs and opportunities in order to optimize our portfolio accordingly.
- In the spirit of continuous improvement, you ensure that development teams strive for best practices in the research and development process, taking ownership for improvements in their daily work, thus creating an open, trustful and high-performance culture
- Main current projects are the successful integration of the newly acquired BASF coil coating business into our business unit and the review of our joint portfolio to reduce complexity.
- You will be a member of the global Metal R&D team, where you collaborate to share best practices and support other regions if needed.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Your qualifications:
 

- You have many years of experience in a managerial position preferably in coil coatings.
- You are a strong leader with a passion for developing people to realize their potential.
- You are strong in execution and have the ability to create focus and structure. As a professional you are persistent in your approach.
- You are a good in building relations and can build internal and external relationships in cross cultural environments.
- You like a challenge and have a great passion for business.
- Your English skills are very good and you ideally also speak either German or French.
- You have a relevant university degree preferable MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Engineering or Physics.
- You are willing to travel up to 25%-50% of your time.
