About AkzoNobel

AkzoNobel is a leading global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals, with leading market positions and brands in countries around the world. We operate in a number of important market segments ranging from buildings and infrastructure to transport, industrial and consumer goods. We’re also the sector leader in sustainability and are number one in the renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index. In practical terms, that means our sustainable solutions are in your lives, and those of your friends and family, every day. We’re the people that make it possible for you to do what you need to do.

Responsibility

An exciting opportunity to drive ongoing change and improvement for a leading global organization

AkzoNobel creates everyday essentials to make people’s lives more liveable and inspiring. We are a leading global producer of paints, coatings and specialty chemicals, supplying essential ingredients, essential protection and essential color to industries and consumers worldwide.

In recent years AkzoNobel has implemented a global system – ALPS – that eliminates waste and reduces variation by optimizing and standardizing processes while building focused capabilities across the organization. In this way, ALPS has helped us to achieve stronger business performance.

Central to ALPS has been our investment in developing a sustainable, long-term culture of Continuous Improvement (CI) based on Lean Six Sigma (L6S) principles and methodology.

Within this context, CI Master Trainers coach and train teams and individuals in advanced CI techniques, operating across business area lines and functional areas to drive change and improve the embedded capability for CI.

Our CI Master Trainers are therefore a key resource for the Supply, Research & Development (SRD) Centre of Expertise in identifying and defining improvement opportunities and helping to build a long term CI improvement culture and skill set. As such, this is a role that requires you to act as a skilled, experienced and passionate professional who can manage change programs while combining the roles of change agent, team leader, instructor, coach and L6S content expert.

Is this a challenge that matches your profile as an innovative, organized and customer focused problem solver who can impart knowledge to others and interact effectively with personnel at all organizational levels? Can you demonstrate high performance levels and the proactive ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment? Do you have the self-confidence necessary to inspire others to collaborate effectively? Above all, can you make a real difference within our dynamic, multinational and multicultural business environment?
If you offer all this and more we invite you to apply for the role of

Continuous Improvement Master Trainer

The role and its responsibilities
This is a role in a global team, focusing on Europe and based at AkzoNobel in Arnhem, but you will travel as required, internationally and domestically; up to 40% of the time.

Along with fellow CI Experts/Masters, you act as the technical expert on the use and training of the ALPS CI curriculum (L6S tool) and the JMP tool. In doing so you provide coaching and support to the CI Experts and trainees in learning and using the CI methodology as it relates to their projects, giving them a clear sense of direction and motivating and empowering them to carry out their responsibilities with confidence.

Further, you assist in the development and deployment of the CI program and help to provide company-wide visibility for the program. You also provide support and advice on project charters and help to define the scope for new projects and CI initiatives.
In addition you conduct coaching with each CI Expert to confirm project progress and ensure development, improving training materials as needed and reviewing annually to determine if revisions are required. You also guide the CI Experts to certification and assist them in doing the same for the CI Advanced and Lead Practitioners. As required you provide support in the selection of new CI Experts.

Further, you conduct CI content based workshops and site audits to help sites improve their performance. You also lead complex, high-priority improvement projects to provide the right level of leadership on critical projects and initiatives.

At all times you seek to support the communications effort around CI by writing articles, speaking at and/or attending conferences and offering assistance to all areas of AkzoNobel. In doing so you demonstrate the CI of your own skills and knowledge.
