  The organic peroxides business within BU PC is a global business, serving global markets through a global supply chain based on 12 fundamental production sites and several distribution centers worldwide.  In addition to being one of primary distribution centers for North America, the Burt site is also a regional logistics center for importing and exporting products to distribution sites throughout the Americas and Canada.     

Candidate is accountable
for the safe execution of warehousing, distribution, planning, logistics (and physical distribution) and maintenance of the Burt Organic Peroxide Distribution Center.
The incumbent operates the Center within agreed upon standards and service levels while ensuring the safety of personnel and the security of equipment and property. The Site Manager is responsible for initiating and executing continuous improvement and improvement projects that increase safety and productivity through the use of ALPs and Lean six sigma. This position contributes to strategy development and execution of the strategy and business plan of BU PC.
Provide leadership of the Burt team, participates as a part of the Regional Manufacturing Team for Polymer Chemistry, and is the leader of the overall site emergency response team.
- Operates the site safely and within compliance meeting all company and regulatory requirements.  Responsible for correct execution of the emergency response procedures and the safety and health of employees and third party staff in case of emergencies.  Is part of LEPC network (local emergency planning committee) and has on-call duty leading the site emergency response organization in crisis; sets the right conditions and enhances awareness for PSM Process Safety Management, 5S, and the ALPS production system of lean manufacturing and distribution.  Prevents/minimizes environmental incidents and minimizes environmental impact.
- Operates the site in a cost effective ethical manner.  Designs the manufacturing plan so as to optimize BU/ site operating income within the framework of BU strategy, vision, policies.   After validation by the BU MT, issues, communicates and ensures implementation of the Integrated Supply Chain Strategy / manufacturing plan.  Optimizes total distribution cost and maintenance cost. Operates within AkzoNobel’s business principles and values at all times.
- Translates company objectives into plans and strategies.  Manages the site team by setting targets for improvements and investment plans; reports on bottlenecks in manufacturing and proposes corrective actions.   Measurements areas – SAQ, FMC, Regulatory compliance, S&OP adherence.
- Manages the site team in an effort to build engagement and awareness.  Uses the tools available via HR and Viewpoint to help facilitate a strong team. Supports a strong site safety awareness through the use of behavioural based safety.  Manages in a fair and ethical manner following all company policies.
- Monitors and reports monthly by means of flash report (summary of plant performance) to BU MT on progress in own team and business team.  Analyzes performance against budget, takes corrective action in case of deviations.  In addition, is responsible for site operating budget and plant operation within that budget.  Provides continuous improvement in cost control and center efficiency.  Operates site within budget guidelines.
- Meets Customers Requirements - Is responsible for safety, quality, quantity, and efficiency of distribution to meet the agreed upon targets for both external and internal customers. Internal customers include business, marketing, supply chain, HR, AN Corporate to name a few.  Areas of measurement are FMC control, on time delivery, legal and regulatory compliance, policy compliance, and safety compliance.- Responsible for the quantity, quality and efficiency of supply chain (planning, materials supply, warehousing/loading, transport) activities within agreed upon targets. Pro-active in pursuing continuous improvement.  Analyzes and reports on supply chain performance against budget and takes corrective action in case of deviations (via the supply chain manager).  
- Works with Supply Chain to derive long term, medium term and short term supply plans from sales forecasting and historical patterns,  ensuring optimization of planning parameters (stocks, run lengths, purchased quantities) based on these plans, on customer service level agreements, on manufacturing characteristics and on overall cost.  Avoids obsolete stocks by monitoring product performance and challenging volume planning, especially for new articles; and adjusts purchasing and planning parameters accordingly.

- Drives continuous improvement - Ensures continuous improvement of working processes (using ALPS production system), structures and systems; selects appropriate management tools for monitoring and improving performance; ensures realization and integration of improvement projects, investment initiatives and actions in the daily supply operation; and optimizes procedures and working relationships with the Commercial, Supply Chain and A&T functions, in daily distribution operations and (product) development.

- B.A/B.S degree is required
- B.S degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry is preferred
- 8-10 years relevant experience in chemical facility
- 3-5 years supervision experience
- Good people management skills
- Capable of identifying best practices
- Must be able to wear respirator if needed, steel toed shoes and safety glasses to go into plant environment. Knowledge of plant processes, equipment
