AkzoNobel Inc.–has an outstanding opportunity for a Procurement Manager - Strategic Functional Spend.  The Procurement Manager  - Strategic Functional Spend is responsible for the Enterprise Services (Professional Services, ICT, Insurance, Office Supplies, Consulting, etc.) and Workforce Services (HR, Car Lease, Third Party Labor and Travel).
This includes acting both as a regional buyer and at times as a global lead buyer for specified materials and managing spend for all the businesses in NA.

• Develops and implements sourcing strategies for materials, designed to support the identified business needs and are in line with the Global Procurement strategy. This may be done directly or working in Cross Functional Teams with others. The strategies are to be agreed by Business Area Management Teams and Purchasing Management.

• Builds and maintains effective contacts with suppliers. Negotiates contracts and spot orders with approved suppliers. Total purchase value for which purchaser is directly responsible will range between US $50 - 100 million per year, plus additional delegated spend. Lead value engineering and other cost reduction activity both cross functionally and across businesses.

• Seeks synergy, and where appropriate, support working with other BU’s for the purchase of non-Product Related – Functional Spend categories. Manages the delegated spend within the sourcing matrix on behalf of the businesses in NA.

• Develops plans for the short-term and long-term security of supply, and supplier position(s), for owned materials. Identifies alternative suppliers and products for innovation, improved sustainability, cost reduction and in support of business strategy in coordination with BA Supply Chain and R&D.

• Responsible for the collection and interpretation of market data and intelligence that impacts raw materials that are the purchaser's direct responsibility and for other materials or suppliers. Becomes the “go to” person for assigned spend in regions and stimulates cross Business cooperation.

• Represents the Business both inside and outside AkzoNobel; builds and maintains a network of business contacts in support of organizational objectives; conducts business in a responsible and ethical manner.
Functional Responsibilities/Network

• Focal Point for the GBS organization including key relationships with all levels on management; develop as the trusted “go-to” person for Regional procurement activities for Functional Spend.

• Regional Purchase Managers – NA

• Active participant in the Regional Purchasing team

• Active across all regions including peers and business management
Works closely and in cooperation with: all stakeholders BU’s /Functions, such as Supply Chain, Marketing, Sales, Finance and HR - where appropriate participate in regional/management teams. Position will work closely with SMU Lead Buyers in the region NA and at times in other regions like Europe, and Asia.

Capability of working in a cross-functional and in a complex environment with different businesses and stakeholders. Strong communication and influencing skills, both internally and externally. Requires strong interpersonal, organizational, written & oral communication skills.

Confident manager of suppliers and supplier relationships, able to understand the dynamics of the raw material markets and the upstream and downstream influences.
