Our Specialty Chemical’s manufacturing site in Lima, OH has an outstanding opportunity for a professional to assume the role of Chemist. This site is a Joint Venture between two of the largest chemical companies in the world – AkzoNobel and BASF, offering a developmental opportunity within both organizations!

This position will be accountable to test and qualify all finished products and audit quality of process intermediates and raw materials and perform specialized laboratory procedures. The position reports to the Quality Manager.

- Test all products to be shipped for conformity to specification.
- Enter lab data into quality module, and when necessary data from the Process Lab.
- Test other routine samples as needed: NaCN scrubber, ammonia, Biosump, raw materials, etc.
- Test non-routine samples as needed: production, warehouse, Technical Service, environmental, etc.
- Assist in the development/implementation of new – experimental test procedures.
- Prepare worksheets/reports of relevant findings as necessary.
- Calibrate and maintain all laboratory equipment.
- Ensure reagents, testing solutions, laboratory supplies, sample shipping supplies, etc. for QC and Process labs are ordered/prepared/available.
- Ensure equipment in Process lab is in good working order and maintained.
- Train and audit Operators on sampling and quality testing and analysis.
- Responsible for preparing special samples for shipment to customers.
- Responsible for maintaining sample inventory of all saleable products and for proper packaging and shipment. 
- Provide assistance to operators when necessary.
- Maintain standard laboratory records and notebooks for non-routine work.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- High School diploma or GED required.
- Degree in Chemistry or Science strongly preferred.
- Candidates having attended chemistry classes with three (3) plus year’s laboratory experience will be considered.
- Requires knowledge and ability to operate computers.
- Strong math skills.
- Good lab technique for quantitative analysis.
- Working knowledge of Gas Chromatograph (GC), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), pH meters, balances, titrators, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and other sophisticated analytical equipment.
- Ability to work safely in the lab.
- Good at time management
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, climb stairs and stand for up to 8 hours.
