AkzoNobel Inc.–has an outstanding opportunity for a Regional Tax Specialist (Team Lead). The Regional Tax Specialist (Team Lead) will lead, support and execute the tax related activities for the entities in the region. In addition, maintain, monitor and drive the tax compliance of the entities in the region. Active interaction with specialists and operations analysts in the Regional Accounting Center (RAC) regarding direct and indirect tax subjects that require tax expertise and liaise and interact with AkzoNobel Tax Department (ATD) and tax specialists of other RACs.
Specific Tasks:
- Lead and support in an accurate and timely way the required ongoing, monthly, quarterly, and annual direct and indirect tax related activities for the entities in the region.
- Review and sign off on the following :
- Tax packages
- Transfer pricing segmentation reports and transfer pricing local documentation
- Withholding tax filings
- The corporate income tax returns (prepared by the tax service provider)
- Tax accounting calculations and reporting

- Manage and coordinate Tax Audits (direct and indirect)
- Review and be responsible for the work done by the Indirect Tax analyst on indirect tax compliance
- Support ATD where needed around the tax compliance of the entities in the region including monitoring changes in legislation and business that result in tax risks/ opportunities
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation
- Active interaction with specialists and operations analysts in the RAC regarding tax subjects that require tax expertise
- Active interaction with ATD and tax specialists of other RACs
- Drive continuous improvement agenda in tax processes in the region
- Coordinate and be responsible for direct and indirect tax activities performed by tax analysts in RAC
- Drive tax compliance in the region
- Review and sign-off information and tax packages for both tax department and tax services provider, the corporate income tax return, the transfer pricing segmentation sheet and the transfer pricing documentation for the region, the withholding tax filings and the tax accounting calculation and reporting

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- Bachelor Degree in Accounting and/or Master’s degree in Tax
- Tax professional with preferably 5+ years of experience in operational direct and indirect tax and capable of analyzing and coordinating tax matters and issues under severe time pressure
- Knowledge of IFRS
- Adequate knowledge of tax accounting
- Adequate communication skills
- Ability to work and delegate work under tight deadlines during month-end closures and continuously retain ‘an eye’ for the details
- Be able to develop and manage a team and engage team members
