The AkzoNobel Risk Management and Internal Control function develops, maintains and supports Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Control within AkzoNobel North America and its operating units worldwide to provide reasonable assurance that risks and control related to the overall business objectives are identified, assessed and appropriate decisions and actions are taken.
The company currently maintains a number of systems to efficiently monitor and report our performance.  In this regional role, you will be the key person responsible for the requirements of these systems but you will also work with the outcome in order to contribute to an effective and efficient organization.
- Drive the maintenance and execution of risk management and internal control throughout the region. Will work with local and country contacts to implement standard automated and manual controls.
- Ensure that policies and frameworks, guidelines and standards are fully implemented, leading to a robust internal control standard.
- Manage and execute audit coordinations.  Will follow up to close deficiencies and ensure proper progress reporting.
- Train and coach team members on new controls.
- Attend and present in quarterly attestation calls.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.  MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 4-5 years experience in Governance, Risk and Compliance.  Must have experience with processes, risks, financial/operational internal controls and internal controls principles (e.g., COSO, ISO).
- Experience in external or internal audit required.  Must be able to collaborate, train, and support key staff members with compliance requirements.
- Must be knowledgeable of The Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Must possess excellent information technology skills to include experience with SAP, SAP GRC, and SAP Access Control.  Experience with SoD monitoring and working with COSO framework also required.
- Must possess highly developed analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills required.  Must be an effective team player. 
- Must be willing to travel up to 30% as needed.  International travel may be required.
- Must be fluent in English.
