We currently have an opening for a Sr. Process Engineer for our Battleground (Houston, TX) facility. Our Battleground site primarily produces metal alkyls, sold primarily as co-catalysts to major thermoplastic resins and rubber manufacturers (producers of polyethylene, polypropylene, and EPDM). The product line is complex with over 30 metal alkyl products (plus formulations) produced at Battleground. Products are extremely hazardous (pyrophoric, meaning they ignite on contact with air) and are highly reactive with water. The site also manufactures High Purity Metal Organics (HPMO) for the semi-conductor and LED industries.

Key objectives
To provide technical services in the form of process engineering for the manufacture of organometallic compounds with emphasis on project conception, design and implementation. Other emphasis will be on plant technical support which will include but not limited to: SPC, material balances, process safety to include hazard analysis, yield tracking and improvements, operating specific production sections, and troubleshooting and resolving process problems.

Principal accountabilities
• Implement Process Safety requirements on manufacturing units.
• Conduct, document and resolve findings from hazard operability and hazard analysis.
• Train plant personnel on SPC theory and techniques. Implement and monitor process plotting.
• Develop and implement process engineering projects, studies and evaluations. Provide heat and material balances, equipment sizing, relief valve calculations and raw material yield calculations.
• Provide technical services and operating support for plant special needs such as unit start up. Assist operations with troubleshooting of unit problems and resolving process problems.
• Other duties and assignments as directed by the Operations Superintendent.\
• Understand and help implement the site’s Operating Policy, and HSSE goals and objectives.
• Support and participate in on-going HSSE improvement activities and committees.
• Be aware of potential health, safety, security and environmental impacts in area of responsibility and the consequences if an upset occurs.
• Understand and implement any parts of the Battleground Environmental Compliance Plan and Waste Management Plan that apply to area of responsibility.
• Participate in the site’s on-going Pollution Prevention Process.
• Understand and help implement the site’s Quality Policy, Quality goals and objectives, and the Quality Improvement Process (MTQ).
• Be fully aware of your specific quality assurance responsibilities.
• Be familiar with site-wide document control, internal quality audits, corrective action, non-conforming product and record keeping procedures.
• Be sure employees under supervision, if applicable, are aware of and are adequately trained in quality procedures.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and 6 to 8 years’ experience in Process Engineering Chemical Plant Engineering, Project Engineering and/or a combination of all, or Master’s degree in chemical engineering and 4 to 6 year experience in Process Engineering Chemical Plant Engineering, Project Engineering and/or a combination of all,.
• Strong Microsoft Office Experience
• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Historian Software
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English
• Good computer skills
• Must be able to wear respirator, steel toed shoes, safety glasses and hard hat as required.
