Responsibility

  The purpose of this role is to supervise, lead and coordinate the activities of a team of Production Technicians on primarily first shift but occasionally off-shifts. Monitors daily plant activities and ensures time and quality commitments are met.
 
 
Leadership:
o Work with Planning to create production schedules to maximize employee capabilities, and equipment availability.
o Make adjustments in schedules using knowledge of machine capacities and equipment, and worker capabilities.
o Responsible for working with other Teams and Team Captains to schedule shared equipment, and overall
manpower adjustments to achieve overall site Production goals.
o Hold regular team meetings, providing timely business updates. Encourage team participation and involvement.
o Recommend and implement measures to improve productivity, performance, product quality, methods, working
conditions, and efficiencies.
o Provide regular coaching and feedback. Provide coaching and assistance to others on performance management
and development plans.
o Assesses team functional capability, identifies expertise gaps within the project team and solicits the steering team
for necessary staffing support.
o Supervises staff to include training, evaluating performance, providing compensation recommendations, and
conduct disciplinary actions when necessary.
o Work with other leaders to coordinate work flow and resources between departments.
o Inspires commitment to AkzoNobel’s purpose, vision, strategy, core principles, values and leadership behaviors.
General Plant Operations Activities:
o Accountable for your team's execution of general plant operations activities on a given shift.
o Manages the operations of your team, which includes the implementation and administration of production
programs and schedules, safety initiatives, applicable product and quality improvement measures, and related
areas.
o Monitor your team's production process to ensure product quality, ensure product is completed safely and timely.
 
Conduct personal and professional development:
o Train for cross-functional job duties.
o Stay abreast of technology and plant leader concepts and methods.
o Establish and pursue development goals.
 
Health, Safety & Environmental:
o Comply with the HSE rules and the policy of company.
o Attend safety meetings and complete required safety training.
o Recommend and implement safety and operational improvements.
o Conduct BBS observations and promote the BBS program to their respective team.
 
Planning and General Administration:
o Provide input for workforce planning and development, scheduling, and development of annual business plan.
o Complete and maintain appropriate records, documents, or reports (quality, production records, inventory records,
etc.).
o May work on special projects as assigned by Production Manager.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

1 year of similar experience with college degree OR 5 years in manufacturing with 2 years in a leadership role.
 
Demonstrated ability to develop a diverse group of employees for future opportunities.
 
Strong interpersonal, communication, business acumen, financial and technical/problem solving skills.
 
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple customers and support groups
to achieve a desired goal.
 
Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
 
Strong leadership capabilities, particularly in areas of employee safety, continuous improvement, lean
manufacturing principles, change management, and employee engagement.
 
Experience in practicing Continuous Improvement and/or Lean Manufacturing ideology in a manufacturing
environment.
