AkzoNobel Inc.–has an outstanding opportunity for a Payroll Accountant. The Payroll Accountant will assist with the monthly payroll accounting for a large multi-legal entity and international payroll. Also, work closely with the ANI Business partner and HR to understand the activities of the business and determine proper treatment of payroll activities. In addition, monitor/review the monthly personnel costs postings on major variances and inform business organization.
Specific Tasks:
- Work closely with management in setting and achieving goals

- Work closely with Business Partners, BUs and HR to ensure their needs are being met

- Follow proper protocol and procedures within SSC and Regional Accounting Center

- Execute activities in alignment with SLA

- Responsible for payroll bank account reconciliations, payroll account reconciliations and other payroll related activities

- Support in Holiday / Bonus provisions calculations

- Assist with the coordination of the posting, balancing, and reconciliation of accounting payroll activity for one or multiple business units

- Assist with the monthly payroll accounting for a large multi-legal entity and international payroll

- Operational decision maker on how to continuously improve the consolidation and reporting process in the region

- Determine how bookings are recorded in the Balance Sheet (in line with IFRS / Audit policies)

- Coordinate whether a specialist needs to be involved in accounting matters

- Other departmental non-routine projects/assignments as requested

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred but not required

- Relevant accounting work experience with 1-3 years of payroll experience

- A full understanding of US payroll activities

- Knowledge in specialized accounting areas such as Payroll, Balance Sheet management, and/or Financial Reporting

- Strong understanding of general accounting principles

- Experience in SAP; proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook); experience with payroll software (NGA)

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

- Highly analytical; accurate with an attention to detail

- Ability to build relationships with customers/stakeholders in a multi-national environment

- Must demonstrate initiative and independent judgment in solving routine problems

- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment; meet deadlines and manage pressure
