Responsibility

Akzo Nobel Coatings Inc. has a full-time position available at our Columbus, Ohio facility as a Quality Control Supervisor. The QC Supervisor must manage and schedule activities of the QC Technicians in performing all QC and QA testing procedures specified or assigned, and assure compliance to all specifications while maintaining all associated records.  The Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and correlating our testing with our customers’ laboratories, and coordinates with all other Company departments in the activities of supplying our customers with needed information and service. This is a salaried, non-exempt position.
 
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Maintain and store complete and accurate QC records

- Assist in writing new and updating current QC Laboratory Procedures

- Provide and maintain training and training records for the QC Technicians

- Maintain a clean work station and all laboratory equipment.  Maintain the Laboratory work area within all required safety guidelines.

- Perform, review and supervise Calibration and Testing procedures of ht QC equipment as assigned.

- Provide information to other departments as necessary, in the service of our customers.

- Order and maintain QC Laboratory materials and supplies.

- Meet or exceed agreed upon and established goals.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- Must be able to move to various areas of the operation, including all manufacturing areas/floors, with the ability to stand for extended periods of time.

- Must have good eyesight and hearing.

- Must pass required color test.

- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

- Must be able to wear all required safety equipment and protective clothing as required by law and/or corporate policy.  This might include, but is not limited to, safety shoes, safety glasses, ear protection, vapour and particulate respirators, and safety gloves. 

- Must complete Supervisor training.

- Must pass company math test.

- Must be able to work overtime as required to service external customers.

- Must be able to tolerate solvent smells and other chemicals used in the manufacturing/testing of our products.

- Must be able to travel on company business via all common forms of transportation.

- Must have good working knowledge of all facets of QC Laboratory practice. 

 
PREREQUISITES:
- Successful candidate must have a high school diploma (or degree preferred), able to work second or third shift.  

- Must have basic computer skills with typing/data entry ability

- Must have good organizational and time management skills

- Must have good customer service and leadership skills
