This position is responsible for shading color liquid coatings to internal and customer specifications. The shading  process  includes reviewing the color of a shaded liquid coating, testing, and calculate color adjustment by using the shading history and the color spectrotometer, .  The senior shader position is also responsible for manufacturing the Aerodex product using the tint master automatic dispensing unit. The senior shader is required to use designated equipment in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures to achieve the highest level of efficiency and productivity.

Essential Functions:
Prepares panels in accordance with the batch ticket test page. Operates color spectrophotometer and makes visual comparisons of panels versus customer standards to calculate adjustments to achieve color approval of production batches.
Performs product testing to internal and/or external specifications and other tests as required on batch test page and/or QC test card.
Records performance and process data as specified on the batch ticket and as required by quality assurance. Exercises a high degree of judgment concerning the quality of the batch based upon test results, established procedures and personal experience.
Maintains accurate records of materials, quantities, and lot numbers used during / shading process.
Operates Automated Dispensing Unit. This operation includes the entry of formulas into the ADU computer, color verification; adjustments for color and dispensing finished products into containers.
Obtains necessary raw materials from warehouse and maintains accurate inventory locations and quantities.

Responsible for the collection and proper disposal of hazardous waste and maintains a neat, clean and safe work area. Notifies management of any unsafe condition(s). 
Other duties as assigned.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

- High school graduate or equivalent; some college is plus
- Good math and computer skills is a plus
- One-year experience of performing the job functions of a B chemical operator or similar previous chemical operating experience.
- Job involves walking or standing for eight-hour shift.
- Ability to lift 55 lbs; ability to push/pull 55-gallon drums weighing up to 600 lbs; lifting on a repetitive basis.
- Ability to wear breathing apparatus (respirator) and pass fit test.
- Capable of periodically passing an established exam based on the job responsibilities of a manufacturing associate.
- Visual color perception and ability to pass color test.
- Ability to operate PC with windows based operating system.
- Must have the aptitude to operate various pieces of manufacturing equipment and testing instrumentation required to perform job functions.
