Purpose/Key Objectives of the Job
AkzoNobel has started its journey to mature its Master Data Management (MDM)
Services, and for this, setting up Global MDM capabilities is essential. The MDM CoE
Data Domain Expert Foundation (level 1) will, during Phase 1 of the MDM Transition
support GBS Master Data Services and the Paints & Coatings Business aiming at
standardising MDM Governance, MDM processes, defining global Master Data (MD)
Standards, developing global and common insight on MD quality and supporting
Continuous Improvement (CI) of MDM and business processes.
Responsibilities
- Support the GPO MDM in MDM Foundations activities:
Develop and maintain MDM Strategy
- Ensure a common MDM strategy which aligns to the global AkzoNobel strategy.
- Ensure the MDM strategy is maintained and kept up to date
- Advise on strategic direction for all MDM activities in the company

Deliver and maintain MDM Standards + their monitoring
- Ensure availability of a comprehensive set of MDM Standards to be leveraged and applied throughout the organisation
- Enable the organisation maturing MDM by supporting implementation of MDM Standards
- Ensure MDM Standards are kept up to date with company and market best practices and manage required changes through CI initiatives
Develop and maintain MDM Roles and MDM Organisations
- Ensure availability of a comprehensive set of MDM roles to be leveraged and applied through the company
- Support implementation of MDM organisational set up
- Ensure MDM roles are kept up to date with company and market best practice and manage required changes through CI initiatives
Communicate/promote value of Master Data and MDM
- Ensure a structured approach for communication and training to create and enforce awareness on the value of Master Data and MDM across AkzoNobel

Resolve issues/conflicts related to MD governance
- Design, implement and maintain a structural and organised model to address and resolve issues/conflicts around MDM matters
- Support the GPO MDM with the run part of the MDM CoE, i.e. resourcing, budgeting, project/application portfolio, PMO, etc.
- Support the GPO MDM and MDM CoE Team Leads to build an MDM roadmap
- Communicates and implement the MDM vision, strategy and roadmap
- The Single Point of Contact and escalation channel for MD operations for process/governance related issues/improvements
- Act as a change agent and communicator for MDM, enabling continuous commitment for and awareness of MDM
- Supports the implementation of the agreed MDM2.0 project’s next steps
- IM touch-point for resource assignment to support projects
- Continued focus on innovation and standardization to drive down total cost to serve and enhance customer satisfaction through improved quality of processes/governance
- Foster communication and teamwork within and across organizational boundaries
- Ability to utilize metrics to identify opportunities for service improvement
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to build working relationships and foster communication with internal customers within and across organizational and geographic boundaries
- Ability to understand change management and drive to resolution- Or Change management experience in large company in a complex and international environment
- International mind-set – sensible for cultural differences
Level of Autonomy
For this role there is a high degree of autonomy within agreed targets/goals and budget
(e.g. manage own schedule within agreed targets).
Examples
- Assignment of resource to several, something conflicting in priorities, activities (projects, changes, …) for the relevant data domain
- Driving standardizing of processes and documentation for MDM governance globally working in close cooperation with the GPO MDM, CoE Team Leads and MDM Operations Managers

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Job Requirements
Essential educational qualifications, relevant experience and requested skills.

- Post-Graduation in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, IT or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 8 years’ overall experience with 5 years’ experience in MDM related function
- Working experience in AkzoNobel, supporting MDM preferred
- Experience in implementation of MDM governance/processes
- Experience in interfacing with other MDM stakeholders and other functions
- Experience in Continuous Improvement project
- Experience in MDM governance/process improvement and root cause analysis
- Experience in MDM application systems development and implementation (preferably SAP and SAP MDG)
- Experience in complex IT system environments
- Experience in complex business environments
- Understanding of external factors influencing master data management such as competitors, regulatory requirements, best in class practices, etc.
- Leverages best in class examples, key expert / key stakeholder input to design the appropriate MDM foundation
- Leverages business understanding and its requirements in the design of the MDM project agreed end states/outcomes
- Is recognized as a credible partner for cross-functional teams and across the different functions.
- Keeps deadlines and produces high quality output
- Fosters a constructive dialogue with functions and key stakeholders
- Strong communicator and change agent
- Project management experience preferred
- Available for moderate travel
