This role owns the customer relationship and success of AkzoNobel at their specific location, delivering excellent on site face-to-face service to our customers in one or more of the product groups, by providing TS functional excellence, delivering operational improvement, driving the resale process by quantifying and communicating the value of improvements to both clients and internal sales teams.


Enabling KAM’s and sales managers through proactive collection of market intelligence, both opportunities and threats, through knowledge and promotion of cross product / segment AkzoNobel offer and the quantification of value delivered.


Accountability N1

TS Functional Excellence

Delivering technical service in line with strategy for all accounts for a selected product group, ensuring TS Functional excellence and customer satisfaction.

  • Builds technical service excellence through continuous improvement of own technical skills and capabilities - develop understanding of all Coil Coating Products to enable transfer between customers and when required

  • Develop, implement and/or optimize work processes and systems, including equipment installation and modification, ensuring customers are able to run more efficiently and improve their operations

  • Undertake regular audits and provide customer employee training as appropriate

  • Ability to identify opportunities to reduce customer operating costs, including a broad awareness of the plant operating processes beyond the coating process

  • Ability to solve tech issues both process and product within associated product group

  • Hand over PSO - any product activity/modification

  • Maintain good levels of expertise

  • Coordinate and provide on-site and remote technical services to customers in assigned region for coatings for Metal Coatings Business (Coil Coatings)

  • Make product recommendations to customers

  • Diagnose product-related issues, and introduce corrective actions,

  • including on-site modifications, as appropriate

  • Do Laboratory testing and analysis whenever is appropriate to support the product recommendation process or the product-related issues analysis

  • Create organic growth for coatings through technical service recommendations and follow-up Lead training sessions with customers

  • Manage Technical information to customers (Tech Data Sheets)

Business Partnering

  • Build positive and mutually beneficial relationships at multiple levels and functions within customer accounts to support the development of joint projects, strategies and action plans

  • Understand the customer's needs and apply expertise and knowledge to provide optimum level of service

  • Support KAMs, Sales Managers and customer by proactively answering questions and dealing with complaints when able, or taking ownership for resolution and feedback

  • Engage in customer meetings / events as appropriate

  • Competence to manage minor claims - accountability

  • Consignment stock - all activities that happen at customer plant

  • Utilize knowledge, networks and CRM tool to answer stakeholder main worries or debrief on current situations and/or issues

  • Ability to capture compatible activities and analyze them

  • Develop and maintain relationships with commercial and technical customer contacts, in order to keep and to extend the Metal Coatings Business

  • Manage customer expectations and technical needs Assist with growth developments

  • Diagnose product-related issues, and introduce corrective actions, including on-site modifications, as appropriate

  • Determine customer complaints

  • Assist to quality complaints as needed

  • Make Technical reports to customers Attend and make customer calls

  • Make consistent visits to key customers to develop meaningful relationships

Identification of Sales Leads / Business Development

  • Support KAM / Sales Managers in developing overall account strategy via expert knowledge and customer intelligence gathering

  • Actively utilize relationships within customer to promote ANPG and understand our profile against our competitors within their business

  • Attend business review, identify, sell and circle back

  • Focus on 'resale process', working to improve the process

  • Ability to quantify the value of benefits of the improvement they have brought and contribute to the articulation of the benefits to the customer

  • Demand forecast for plant

  • Gather customer needs and requirements, communicating to the Sales & Marketing organization to help build our customer strategy plans

  • Monitor competitive activities at customers’ locations

  • Work closely with sales team to understand current customer needs

  • Work with global Technical Service, Sales and Marketing teams to understand global market trends and opportunities

  • Participate in gathering market and customers

  • Manage Create and effectively communicate corporate presentations/message to customer base

  • Works closely with sales, marketing and RD&I in delivering technical services initiative for accounts within their specific product group

  • Own trials at customer in partnership with KAM/Sales manager and RD&I

  • Manage information flow from the Research & Development laboratories through local organization and to the customer.

  • Manage product-related information flow to Research & Development laboratories

Job requirements/Candidate profile

Qualifications/ Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Chemistry (with preference in coatings) or equivalent technical education, or equivalent working experience.

  • Basic computer skills; MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes; working capability with SQRL interfaces such as DataPac

Business and/or Functional Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of coatings and inks properties evaluation and tests as well as knowledge of coatings and inks formulation would be beneficial. Knowledge of different printing and coating application methods for metal applications would be beneficial.

  • Familiarity of or experience with production processes of coated metal would be beneficial.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills Demonstrate Flexibility, evidence of problem solving skills, results- orientation, sense of urgency and ability to respond quickly Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Strong customer focus and proven abilty to develop close and lasting professional relationships within a clients company.

  • Effective communicator of complex ideas.

  • Poise and charisma when working with customers Perfect Russian and fluent in English IT literate (e.g. MS Office)

  • Willingness to travel regionally on average 50% of work time


Good knowledge coatings application (preferable for metal) would be beneficial
