Coatings Colourist is responsible for the development of new colours and the colour matching from existing samples from AkzoNobel Customers.  This position is part of the Canadian Solutions Lab and an RD&I functional role.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Must follow all established safety rules and procedures
Must demonstrate integrity while performing duties as per company’s Code of Conduct
Responsible for the development of new colours and/or matching of existing samples
Aids in aspects of quality control from color formulation and manufacturing activities
Travel to customer sites to run trails
Assist lab employees if required
Performs related work as required

Job requirements/Candidate profile


Experience / Education – College degree is suitable for this role. 

Minimum of two (2) years working in coatings colour development is preferred.  Preference will be given to wood coatings experience.  Further preference will be given to candidates with application equipment experience. 

Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and effectively present appropriate information to a variety of audiences.

Math Skills – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Skills – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Knowledge of coatings methods and procedures and methods of analysing produces and materials.

Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate strong Excel, Word and Outlook skills. Experience with SAP and Optiva would be of great benefit.
