An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen in our office in Muscat, Oman for an Site Operations Manager.


The Site Manager is responsible to manage the manufacturing site of the AkzoNobel Oman efficiently to meet current and long term sales requirements with direct responsibility for production, process improvement, HSE, Demand and Supply Planning, Engineering and Logistics.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Establish a site culture of functional and operational excellence with focus on continuous improvement. Plan, lead, organize & control the delivery of the site’s contribution to business objectives and overall performance in terms of HSE & S, service, quality, costs and productivity.
• Ensure that HSE is fully integrated into the management of operations activities and that Group policies are fully complied with including HSE reporting.
• Ensure Compliance against relevant SAQ Elements (Setting Direction & Making It Happen, Leadership Involvement in Risk Management, Management Systems and Behavior)
• Coordinate activities of site operations team and work effectively with functional managers, Sales & Marketing and Technical Managers to meet agreed objectives
• Oversees and participates in the development and administration of the division's annual budget; participates in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures; implements adjustments to meet the management operation budget.
• To lead, develop, manage and complete all capital expenditure projects under Operations as well as budget spending to meet the date line and the budget given by the management.
• To lead, establish and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental procedures as well as ISO certifications and safety / engineering audit requirement procedures to meet company policies and mission/vision.
• To be accountable for the overall health of the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process for AkzoNobel Oman, including ensuring the Demand and Supply Planning processes are established and key stakeholders from the commercial functions are actively participating in the forecasting processes as part of the Demand review cycles.
• Accountable for ensuring supply planning processes are in place including running of MRP, ensuring inventory norms are properly established, finished goods SKUs are classified optimally.
• Establish, plan and organised all production and maintenance activities related to production throughput, manufacturing excellence, quality management, preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, equipment analysis, process efficiency improvement or modification including equipment re-modelling and rehabilitation to meet production target and Safety/Engineering standards and compliance.
• Accountable for the efficient running of the raw material warehouse, ensuring processes are in place for proper storage, establishing robust cycle counting procedures, with accurate book versus physical inventory management, and in accordance to HSES and engineering requirements.
• Accountable for efficient running of the warehousing function, ensuring proper processes and procedures are established for safe, efficient and proper storage of finished goods on site and off-site, with high inventory record accuracy.
• Accountable for ensuring on-time delivery to the customers through establishing an efficient transportation network, delivering to the service level agreements agreed with the commercial functions, and with an optimized cost structure that meets the business’ budgeted costs.
• To establish and lead the Continuous Improvement function in the business, responsible for ensuring the AkzoNobel ALPS framework is well-established with clear roadmap crafted for the site, properly communicated and driven as part of the daily operational culture for the business.

• Liaise with relevant government departments in support of HR to ensure smooth running of operations and ensure all Site rules and regulations are complied with.
• Coordinate with Regional ISC director (SESAME) and ensure all reporting and KPI recording requirements are fulfilled.
• Develop individual team members and build a team which collectively is capable of and fully involved in achieving the department objectives.
• To contribute to overall management of the company as a member of Executive Team and to appraise executive committee on matters, relating to Operations. 
• Be familiar with all applicable corporate as well as site policies/procedures with regard to personal conduct/HSE standards and acts in compliance with all regulations.

Job requirements/Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will be engineering degree-qualified with 10 years’ experience in manufacturing industry and knowledgeable of production and business processes and have strong background in Engineering, Logistics, Production or HSE. Candidate must be experienced in personnel management with a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience with multi-discipline teams. Sound experience in a batch-processing factory environment and preferably knowledgeable about Lean Manufacturing concepts and principles. The ability to manage in a multicultural, multi-site and matrix organization structure is essential.
