How do I submit my innovation?
Click here and fill in the required fields on the form.
What information should I provide so that you can make a decision?
Please provide as much non-confidential information as you can. If your idea is related to one of our needs then please explain the connection. Supporting information such as publications or patents are always useful additions.
Can I still submit my idea if I have not applied for a patent?
Your submission and the information contained in it will be received by us only on a non-confidential basis so you should consider consulting a lawyer and/or filing a patent application before submitting your idea to us. For more information please see our Terms and Conditions.
Will you sign a non-disclosure agreement?
If, after reading the non-confidential information provided in the submission form, we have a need for more information which is confidential then we are willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Is it possible to present my idea in person?
We will start with e-mail and/or phone contact. If needed, “in person” meetings can be organized; details to be arranged on a case-by-case basis.
What is the review process and when can I expect a decision?
After submission your idea will be screened and forwarded to the part(s) of the business where it is relevant. Experts within the company will then review the information provided and ask for clarification if necessary. You should have an initial reaction from us within a month, though it may take longer than that to fully evaluate the idea in order to reach a final decision.
What are the benefits of working with AkzoNobel if my idea is of interest?
Interesting ideas can lead to joint development projects, which in turn could go on to become final products. If this is the case, you will have the benefit of our skills and experience in developing, manufacturing and marketing a product using your technology. The compensation you will receive for this will be mutually agreed in a joint-development agreement and depends on each situation.
What kind of deal might be the outcome of a successful submission?
Typically we may buy or license the technology for a fee. Each submission is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and the final outcome will be decided following joint discussions where the aim is to achieve a win-win situation for both parties.
What might be the reasons why my submission is unsuccessful?
We have lots of ideas and projects in progress at any one time but only so much time with which to work on them. We may decide that your idea is not of a high enough priority at this stage. It may also be that we cannot see how it fits with our needs or strategy, or perhaps there is a health, safety or environmental concern around it.
What happens to the personal data I provide when submitting my idea?
You agree that we may process your personal data for the purpose of assessing your submission and contacting you and that we may share the personal data with our affiliates for that same purpose. You will have the right to access and edit your personal data maintained by us at any time by contacting us via the e-mail address provided to you on review of your submission.
