AkzoNobel, the leading global paint and coatings company, and the maker of Dulux, collaborates again with the community and youths namely Cibunut Finest for ‘Colourful Cibunut’ initiative that beautifies the community group (RW) of 07 Kampong Cibunut area through colours and murals, making it one-of-a-kind residential area. Initiated by the Alumni Association of Bandung Technology Institute West Java as well as other communities, the project is aimed to reaffirm Cibunut’s identity as an environment-based creative kampong which is meant to be the example for other kampongs in Bandung and other cities in Indonesia.
During the inauguration today, Mayor of Bandung, Ridwan Kamil, expresses his appreciation towards the effort and all parties involved. “This is a great initiative from the community to make the city more colourful and liveable. I highly value the hard work and partnership behind it. I hope this can be a good example for other areas and the city of Bandung can be more lively through colours”, said Ridwan.
Colourful Cibunut focuses on RW 07 Kampong Cibunut, located in Sunda road; consists of 9 (nine) neighbourhood groups (RT) of residential area. Each RT has its own colour as its identity based on the project’s goal; which is to beautify the environment for easy navigation.
With total area of 28,643 square meters; 4,500 litres of Dulux paint are used on more than 300 houses. In addition, 40 walls in the area are painted with murals; depicting the themes of Indonesia’s diversity, Bandung, technology & science, and social issues in the community. The initiative involves more than 2,000 participants; consists of Cibunut residents and mural artists.
Jun de Dios, President Director of PT ICI Paints Indonesia (AkzoNobel Decorative Paints Indonesia) says: “We are very excited to work again with the creative community of Bandung and proud to be entrusted to supply the paints for the third time in such a great initiative to enliven the city.

Chairman of Alumni Association of Bandung Technology Institute West Java, Arfi Rafnialdi, comments: “We are glad that we are able to work together with the youths of Cibunut Finest and AkzoNobel as well as other communities, to make this colourful neighbourhood come to life. With this project, together we aim to make Kampong Cibunut as a residential area with good public space by focusing on environment, communication and creativity aspects. In line with AkzoNobel’s belief in the power of colour, we also believe that the power of a city relies on its people and communities. We would like to thank all parties involved in this project in which without them this initiative would not be happening. We hope we can collaborate again in similar projects in the future”.
Colourful Cibunut is part of Let’s Colour Indonesia campaign, which is AkzoNobel’s effort to add colour to Indonesians. Last year, AkzoNobel worked with the community of Bandung to create murals in Siliwangi road, reflecting the values of people in Bandung. In addition, earlier this year AkzoNobel supported the community in Antapani area to colour their neighbourhood.
