Purpose of the job


 
The Maintenance Manager plan, organize, lead and control the maintenance efforts and processes of the two Canadian sites in a safe and cost-effective manner. He is responsible for the optimal performance and reliability of the equipment, buildings and utility systems of the facility in accordance with quality, HSE and other established procedures and standards. 


Key responsibilities


 
• Ensures and enforce the application of all safety rules, assuring maintenance personnel are aware of and employing safe working practices and promoting safety programs and behaviors.
• Aligns with internal customers to plans the preventives and correctives actions to undertake.
• Creates a maintenance schedule, establish priorities and delegate to the contractor for execution.
• Establish goal for maintenance performance through establishing KPIs. 
• Evaluates the department performance according to the KPIs. Realigns the maintenance agenda if necessary.
• Select and qualify independent contractors.
• Identifies opportunities to enhance the overall maintenance work process and improve cost effectiveness and efficiency.
• Delegates and/or execute maintenance activities such as: diagnoses equipment problems, determines repair needs, tears down, repairs/replaces defective parts, reassembles equipment, etc.
• Executes and ensure overall execution of the work according to standardized (ALPS) work processes and continuously drive improvement.
• Assess maintenance subcontracted personnel competency levels versus requirement and identify training and hiring needs.
• Coaches and develops maintenance subcontracted personnel while holding them accountable for the end result.
• Select and qualify contractor partners
• Evaluate and scope his own projects
• Manage the maintenance budget and agenda
• Ability to conduct his projects the way he believes the best


Job requirements
 
• Millwright certificate of qualification
• 10 years of experience in related field
• Excellent safety record and strong work ethic
• Proven troubleshooting skills
• Superior interpersonal and coaching abilities
• Computer literate
• Good judgement
• Autonomy
• Time management
• Accountable and dependable
• Ability to travel (5%)
• Knowledge of French is an asset
