A valuable, real world opportunity for a focused and practical Intellectual Property Law student
As a leading international organization, AkzoNobel operates a sophisticated Legal Group. Within this capability, the Intellectual Property (IP) Law team is responsible for managing all IP related matters, including IP prosecution, handling IP infringements, advising on IP strategy, supporting IP aspects of M&A transactions and handling all types of IP agreements. The IP Team aims to develop the IP awareness of relevant employees by providing training and creating training and learning materials.
Within this varied and far-reaching context, the AkzoNobel Legal Group is currently offering a four-to-six month opening, for a:
Intellectual Property Law Intern
The position is based in Arnhem, the Netherlands. It is an ideal opening for positive and proactive applicants with a practical and solution-based approach to IP law. You will gain valuable, real-world experience across multiple aspects of practical and strategic IP law application and IP asset management. In doing so you:
· Assist in Trademark Portfolio reviews;
· Support in the annual renewal cycle of the trademark portfolio and advise on the renewal of individual trademarks;
· Support the other IP (trademark) attorneys with agreement related work such as confidentiality agreements and studentship agreements;
· Assist in gathering trademark-use evidence;
· Support the other IP (trademark) attorneys in gathering information and advisory on a wide variety of IP related topics.
You will interact closely with the AkzoNobel IP lawyers, IP paralegals, the IP support team and colleagues in the wider AkzoNobel Legal Group.
Candidate profile
To apply for this position you must possess all the following attributes:
· Being a student enrolled at a Dutch university to qualify for a student intern contract (we cannot take applications from non-students into consideration)
· Study Law with a specialization in IP Law, preferably in the master-phase.
· Knowledge of trademark law – preferably having successfully passed a master course in trademark law or contracting law
· Able to perform meticulous fact-checking as well as more sophisticated assessments;
· Available to work for at least four months;
· Available for a minimum of 4 days a week;
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills including a high standard of written and spoken English, with Dutch or any other languages a plus;
