Akzo Nobel’s oleochemicals plant in Malaysia won two honors at the recent Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM) Responsible Care Awards for 2003.
The company’s Pasir Gudang site won a Gold award in the Distribution Code category and a Silver award in the Pollution Prevention Code category.
Regarded as a major industry event in Malaysia, the annual awards program hands out corporate prizes in six categories to reflect the Responsible Care program's Codes of Management Practice.
Pasir Gundang’s double triumph at the 2003 event represents an improvement on the site’s performance in last year’s honors, when the plant claimed a Silver award in the Distribution Code class.
A total of 17 companies took part in this year's program, with eight being shortlisted as finalists.
