Akzo Nobel has been honored at a major chemicals industry award ceremony in Malaysia.
The company’s Oleochemicals business, located at Pasir Gudang, scooped a silver award at the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM) Responsible Care Awards for 2002, which were presented on February 18.
Divided into six categories to reflect the Responsible Care program’s Six Codes of Management Practice, Akzo Nobel was recognized in the Distribution Code class.
The other five awards handed out on the night were for Employee Health and Safety, Community Awareness and Emergency Response, Process Safety, Pollution Prevention and Most Improved Performance.
This is the first year that the CICM—which has 97 member companies—has organized the presentation of the awards.
